Wow, a major trade right in the middle of the draft. I should have gone to sleep early last night... good call, Heath (ya lucky b*stard :)).

Anyhow, I hope this helps Paul Pierce's numbers. Yet another major scorer for the Mavs.

I have regretted drafting Jermaine over Pierce for a while now. This trade just makes it sting a lot more. :(

Don't worry Jermaine, I haven't given up on you! ;)

I wonder how this will affect Nash's fantasy value. Interesting trade.

Probably will slightly damage his points and threes, but the assists are all over the place for him.

Ok, I'm gonna do what I would criticize others for doing in the past, but here it goes:

I haven't kept up too close with the rules concerning multi-positional players....once I declare a position for someone, is he locked into that spot, or can we do manual changes during the season? I have a player I want, but I also want to be able to change his position if another player of mine gets hurt. What's the story?

I have one complaint i would like to take up with this years setup for the league. I didn't pay much attention to the first post in this thread, but I understood as the draft went on that we were to draft 5 guards, 5 forwards and 2 centers. I don't think we ever (not that I've been in this league for long though, but I know Sandbox didn't have it either so I guess this is true for longer) have had it fixed like this, but I didn't think much of it for the draft as I saw it as just a way to put some structure to it, and that it was open enough with multipositions where you chose where you did draft the player.

When I did read back on that post today (looking for something else) I saw that we're forced to keep the 5-5-2 system for ever with no flexibility at all and I think that is plain wrong. I think it will seriously kill off many potential trades as you have to trade one called guard for another called guard etc. You will have to cut the same position when you pick off waivers also. This will also make it problematic to trade 2 for 1, 3 for 2 etc I think.

No one else having a problem with this? Why the need to keep the limit after the draft? When you start 2+2+1 and 3 utils, why limit the util to be max only one center? I know the center pool is weak, but many traditional forwards are being drafted as C's, and if a GM wants to use (trade for/pick from waivers) more C's to use as utils I don't see why he should not be allowed to do so. After the draft if someone bulks up at one position should not be a problem, it should be a positive. If you get these variations I think it will open up for trades even more (in addition to opening up for allowing it in the first place).

Of course whatever you decide is good, but I think it is bad, and I can't imagine the league ever being this way.

    respond to Heath:

I was aware of the position limits for the draft. I was unaware that we had to keep this 5-5-2 format throughout the year. If this is true I don't agree with it.

I didn't even think the drafting of 5-5-2 was necessary and I see it being a problem in the last couple of rounds as teams have to draft a certain position player over a player they may deem more productive because they have already filled that draft position quota.

As far as I'm concerned I have no problem with someone loading up with centers. It will just hurt their team in the long run by being weak at other positions.

    respond to Behad:

You can change player positions as long as they are multi-position players by nba.com player pages discretion. Finn has said that the new league site does not the multi-position feature up yet but he assured us that he can manually go in and change positions.

The reason for the declare a position is so that your draft follows a 5 G, 5 F, 2 C format. Finn doesn't want any of the managers hoarding centers I think.

So to answer your question: yes. :)

Hey Bob, on the Admin page, under League rules>Roster Max, you don't have to add up to twelve. You have it listed as 5>5>2, but that can be any number you want. It's just a safeguard to stop someone from drafting 12 centers. I'd list it at 7>7>3. Anyone wanting more than 3 centers is SOL.

Heath brings up a very valid point. I will change it so after the draft there will be no limit on positions.

But for draft purposes, we have to stick to the 5-5-2? Why, if we're changing it after the draft?
