3 Yrs /40 - i'll say its a match, year one is probably at 10-11mil. escalating scale, this would be good trade bait after the 2017-2018 season.
What's really funny is that for the past 7-8 seasons DaDakota has been saying something along the lines of: "Fair value is whatever the market decides for you. IMHO. DD" It's pathetically humorous watching him twist and turn to fit his narrative right now.
3/40 front loaded would be a $14 million starting salary for this season that will be prorated down depending on when it is signed. The numbers that were discussed with Brooklyn during the summer were 3/45 to 4/60 with different guarantees and option in the last season.
Yup. Remember that funny story with a unknown poster from realgm that revealed the Kidd to MIL one full day before even Woj knew it? It was in that forum because the BKN managment is leaking. So it wouldn't surprise me if the insider Trader Joe is mentioning is right. Booker will be a starter. It was a promise to get him to sign. But he can also play SF. Who knows in what playing condition DMO is right now? It would be criminal for someone who hasn't played for so long without even going through training camp to straight away put him as a starter and give him full minutes as soon as you sign him. He doens't even know Atkinson's system. He should fist slowly ease into minutes off the bench. You also make the assumption that BKN is now building their core for the future. While Brook Lopez is more likely to be traded very soon if he can prove to remain healthy. what doesn't make sense to me is why they wouldn't instead of Foye waive Bennett or even Scola. Benett doesn't get any playing time at all, at least Foye is needed with no Lin and Levert.
Actually, that only works when the Market had that kind of money to spend. After the money dried up, mostly during the Moratorium, the Market would change, no?, since there is a cap on spending dictated by remaining caproom per team. Plus, since he is signing an offer sheet with a team capped at $18m, his market is certainly not $20m. So, throw that $20m out. Right now, the max for him is $18m, which is the max for the offer he's apparently going to sign.
If I was Marks I would offer 4 years declining with the last year being a team option. A team option is only beneficial to the team. Even if DMO by the 4rth year has a bust back that would make him a trade asset.
Are you saying DMo rejected those offers? Man, think of all the money he lost holding out. Also, did I miss you providing solid numbers like this previously? Did you give us solid numbers before?
The market setting the price....it is not a finite thing and can be changeable based upon market conditions. My entire point was that Morey could have upped his offer and Dmo lowered his demands, long before this point, and that playing the "GET AN OFFER SHEET" game is risky as you can lose a valuable asset for nothing - which weakens your future prospects....or you can have to match a contract which limits your flexibility....instead of working something out that both parties are ok with.... Anyway, I understand why Morey is doing it this way, It is his MO, I don't agree with it necessarily, but he has proven to do this with almost all RFA on the Rockets....actually, I believe Scola was a RFA, that the Org negotiated upwards of their lowball offer, so he could have done that with DMo too.....but what it says to me at least is they really don't WANT DMo that much, they only want him as an asset to possibly flip. DD
Woah Nellie. malakas, that insider flat out said the $40m/3 was a guess. We can read his post that craguin shared. Let's please state that when insiders are guessing, please. It may or may not be a good prediction, but please let this forum know when your info is a guess. Here's what he said. "Also, I'm guessing 3/40 will be the deal and the same insider said it was a good guess, though he claims he hasn't heard any numbers." One is guessing and the other said he hasn't heard any numbers.
13mil/year is looking something DMo wanted all a long. Would Rockets match that? I can see it happening.
I just noticed an odd pattern from a certain poster. He really likes ...specific players: VSpan, Budinger, Parsons, Dragic, DMo........
I still think this is all going to boil down to whether the Nets offer more than one guaranteed season. Morey may agree to tying up a bit of money for this year (even though it would likely make DMo the third highest-paid player on the roster and could make trade deadline deals more difficult), but he definitely doesn't want that still hanging on the books this summer if DMo fails to show he's worth it. If the Nets give him 3 years guaranteed, there's no way Morey will match, especially since it looks like the new CBA won't include another one-time amnesty.
It's going to be very sad once Dmo signs a new deal, this forums will have nothing to talk about anymore.
