Hmm....this should be an easy win....right? Not according to Parcells. He doesn't like these games against "bad" teams. I read something about him not worrying so much about the Eagles, but worrying about the Cards and Lions. I don't blame him either. Last thing this team can afford to do is lose to teams they should beat. Plus, the Lions are able to put some points on the board, IIRC. The Cowboys are no longer the #1 offense, IIRC they're like #4 now, although I'd much rather be in 1st place in the NFC East than be #1 in offense. We did improve our D ranking though. I think it is 2 or 3 overall. Sorry, my stat keeping ability is sucking right now. Also, we don't have Corey Dillon, or even anybody else for that matter from a trade. The deadline went by quietly, although I did hear the Cowboys were the busiest of teams, trying to get an another HB. The Cowboys are relatively healthy. Jason Witten and James Whalen should both play. Witten now has a metal plate in his jaw, or somewhere in there, and just got his braces out Wednesday. He practiced with the other guys intent on "roughing him up," according to Parcells, which he wanted, so I guess he's not have major problems with pain. He did lose a lot of weight since he couldn't eat solid foods. I read Parcells told him to eat baby food. Whalen's return should improve the special teams and that should be great. The only player on the Cowboys that is iffy is DT Daleroy Stewart, who's nursing a sprained ankle. In case he can't go, the Cowboys may play Leonardo Carson, who they signed in place of Tony McGee. The interior D has played well, so it would be a blow if we have problems there with Stewart. I read that Parcells may consider putting Hambrick at FB sometime in the future, I'm assuming if we get an OK(not Oklahoma) HB. That would be interesting. In the mean time, Jamar Martin may get some more playing time. He is pretty big, so he'd probably be used as a lead blocker most of the time, but Parcells likes versatile FBs and I guess Martin's improved on his running and catching...and maybe his throwing so we can do another trick play where he throws the ball deep to Larry Allen, who likes he's lost and doesn't know what he's doing but he really does and he catches it and then goes into the endzone, showing 4.5 speed in the 40 yd dash, and we score and we celebrate and then...woah....um...yeah.
On the trade front, I read some rumors about them trying to acquire Barlow, but they supposedly didn't offer anything higher than a 4th round pick. As if that's going to get a deal done. I think it's a sure bet they snatch up a rb in the draft or thru fagency. I know Travis Henry and Barlow are RFA next offseason. The draft is going to be supposedly deep with rbs. I started getting nervous when the Dillon rumor surface, as it gave me Galloway trade flashbacks. Boys better win today. A win today + a win against the redskins + 3 more wins(that'll be the hard part) = NFC East division imo.
I pretty much agree that they should be able to get a RB soon without giving up too much. You're right about the wins part. Winning games from now on will be pretty hard to do with the schedule we got to end the season. I think if they still improve though, they should be able to surprise some people.
I can't tell if it was in or not. Regardless, great throw and catch. Glenn has been good for the boys this year. Really didn't think that'd be the case, but I'm glad to have him now.
Good all-round game by the Dal-Boys today... Terry Glenn first DAL WR in 11 years to catch three TD's in a singlr game.. Last was Irvin in '92 vs. ARI. Kudos 'Boys' fans.
Talk about an ass kicking. We caught a few breaks and we certainly took advantage of them. Glenn looked great, and Dat Nguyen was all over the field. Next up: Tampa Parcells needs to watch tape of what the Niners are doing to them right now...
Pretty good game today, though it started of bad. Just seemed to flat out dominate every category, which we should have done. The Lions sure looked bad. I think their QB's combined for a QB rating of 2, while QC got 133.6, or something like that. I believe Mariucci said it wasn't that bad when you put it into perspective. We had some nice catches and plays by a lot of players. We just need Pete Hunter to keep his head straight. IIRC, we could have had some records today if we cared. I know late in the game, the Lions had maybe 50-60 yds total, and I think we had already started getting into reserve mode. They ended up with 150 something, I think, but we may have had a shot at less than 100 if we kept some guys in on offense and D, though I'm not sure if we took that many out. (could have kept the aggresiveness, I guess.) BTW Surfguy, if you didn't find out, I think Galloway did play, he just didn't get anything statworthy, I guess. I read the game recap on the Cowboys site and it just said he didn't get any catches. We got Tampa Bay up next in their house. It will be a tough game to win. I think QC played against TB his first game and did make Sapp look like a fool IIRC. Another bad thing is that after TB, we got Washington who will have had 2 weeks to scout and see videos.
I'm not going to blame the Lions QB's...even though Harrignton and McMahon played miserable. You have to understand, those poor Detroit receivers had to spend all week watching game film of the beating that they could expect if they caught the ball anywhere near our secondary. How can you expect to complete a pass after all those film sessions? Woodson and Williams are downright nasty, they are the best duo in the league right now and every receiver in the NFL knows it. Keyshawn better keep his head on a swivel next week…if he knows what’s good for him.
Ok, the boys are 5-1, they have beaten up so pretty bad teams, they have the bucs sunday, this is the test put up or shut up. And I hope to God it is shut up, I HATE THEM.
