I loved Cassell when he was a Rocket... However that was before I realized he's a selfish jerk... The guy is a shoot-first PG who put little to no effort on defense and isn't a team leader at all... There's a reason why he's been traded so many times in his career, it's because his teammates and coaches can't stand him... He has this arrogance about him that pisses people off... I would never trade either Francis or Mobley for Cassell... He will never win a title as a starting PG... ------------------ Check out my homepage! I'd definitely trade Mobley for Cassell in a second. The cockiness you mention is the same 'swagger' everyone seems to love in Mobley. And, as a shoot-first PG, he averages 7.6 assists to Francis' 6.3. When Cassell had to be included in the Barkley trade I was against it. I still regret giving him up. The guy is a winner. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I would not trade Mobes or Francis for Sam I am. But you have to admit the guy has Ice in his viens. He loves the last second clutch shot and is good at it. If you need someone in the last seconds to take a three then there aren't too many people I would take over Sam I am to take that shot. ------------------
Sigh... why do I bother? If Sammy sucked so bad, you would never have started this thread. He would have faded from view. What has it been, almost 5 years since he was traded? Funny, I don't see any "The Rockets are better off without Robert Horry" threads. Why? Because he hasn't done a thing since he left the team, other than ride on Shaq's back last season, as a backup to AC Green. And speaking of sorry, have you ever heard Kid Rock's music? ------------------ In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. [This message has been edited by SamCassell (edited March 05, 2001).]
No doubting Sam's ability. I loved him as a Rocket. But we are better off. And Kid Rock does indeed rock. ------------------
Uh, comparing Stevie's assist totals to Cassell's is foolish... Here's why... Mil runs a TOTALLY diff offense than Hou does... They run guys around screens, cut to the basket, etc... They don't run the iso in the way that Hou does... In addition, Sam has the ball longer than Francis does... Sam is in better position to rack up assists, because has 2 great offensive players around him who can spot up and shoot, or cut to the basket... Does Francis have a Ray Allen waiting at the 3 pt line to nail 3's? Please don't compare Bullard to Ray Allen... Or Walt Williams to Big Dog... If Francis played in cassell's place in Mil, I think Francis could average close to 10 assists per game simply because he can toss the ball to Allen or Robinson, and there's a good chance the ball goes in, whether or not the pass was a nice one, Cassell gets credit for it... Francis doesn't get credit for an assist when he drives and dishes outside, and the guy who just received the pass, passes it to a more open shooter... With that said, put Cassell in the Rockets offense, how many assists will he rack up now? The reason why I started this thread is because in some other thread I saw a few people say that they wish we had Cassell still... I admit, he's a good player, but he's not worth giving up Stevie or Cuttino for... Also, can someone tell me why a superstar like him has been traded so many times? Surely, it isn't because the coaches and teammates loved him... ------------------ Check out my homepage! Loads of sports pics! http://www.public.asu.edu/~sykim/
No one would trade Francis for Cassell, but maybe Mobley. Cassell would be a great addition to the team. I think most people in Houston still have a very high opinion of Sam. ------------------ Matt Bullard Fan Club www.AirBullard.com
