I think only way Astros get screwed is if they are being used as sheer leverage to sign somewhere else, with no intention to sign with Houston. But if the negotiations are in good faith, it's just business. Encarnación has let it leak out its about total highest compensation. Astros seem to think they are in on this negotiation, so we will see...

There's only one reason for a party to leak an offer from another team... they're looking for some place else or more money (and not necessarily more money from the team that was leaked).

This screams of being used as sheer leverage. The Astros don't leak stuff.

it doesn't hurt Houston if they are being used as leverage (other than perhaps lost time)

I don't think they are being used for leverage.

Sounds to me like Houston is about to ink a deal.

I feel as though if they were being used as sheer leverage we would be hearing about the talks by people more reputable. Agents want their message to be sent through 'truthful' reports.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that agents are leaking numbers to random johnny nobodies on twitter.

If the tweet regarding EE's signing means Bregman or Springer is gone, but we add a top pitcher, are you down?

    Sign Edwin

Trade Springer, Martes, etc for Cabrera.

    Bergman
    Altuve
    Cabrera
    Edwin
    Correa
    Gurriel
    McCan
    Reddick
    Xxx

One can dream right? Murderers row?

So have 2 1B/DHs, an extra Gattis, and no one in CF?

Why do people want Sean Bergman back? He wasn't even that good in his prime. Can't imagine he'd be worthwhile in his late 40s.

Marisnick would be in CF and the one hole in the lineup. That said, the team won't be acquiring 2 new 1B/DH guys.

I would rather not go into next season with Marisnick as an everyday starter... I want EE or Beltran along with Fowler. Then Springer, Martes, Reed, and someone else for Sale.

    CF Fowler
    3B Bregman
    2B Altuve
    SS Correa
    1B/DH EE/Beltran
    LF Gurriel
    C McCann
    DH Gattis
    RF Reddick

Still playing with the order, but that is a pretty ridiculous lineup...

    Rotation:
    Sale
    Keuchel
    McCullers
    Musgrove
    McHugh

    Pen:
    Devinski
    Morton
Sipp (or a better lefty somewhere)
    Harris
    Gregerson
    Giles
