So I have tried to do a forum search + a google search for any of the old podcast threads. I know there have been a few over the years. Simply can't turn much up ..think I found one and it was just a minor thread about serial season 1..anyways...real simple...whats everyone listening to these days? (seriously if i'm just missing a recent thread please post the link,) I know a couple which have just been staples from years past: WTF w/Marc Maron JRE Hardcore History Bill Burr Freakanomics TAL Radiolab looking for some new ones to try out. whatcha got for me?
Comedy Bang Bang is still the gold standard for me I also listen to How Did This Get Made?, Who Charted?, Improv4Humans, and With Special Guest
Same. There's a standalone app for it, but I've also found an app for Android called Science Podcast 2.0 which includes StarTalk and a bunch of other Astronomy and Science podcasts. Another good Astro podcast I'd recommend is Astronomy Cast, it's available on the web and Spotify.
Comedy Bang Bang (improv comedy) How Did This Get Made (bad movies) ...are my mainstays. I used to listen to a lot more but it's been whittled down due to time. I check in randomly on: Harmontown (Dan Harmon) iFanboy (comic books) Macbreak Weekly (Apple) miscellaneous Mr. Robot and Westworld podcasts
When I have time, Bill Burr and Joe Rogan. I don't have time for anyone else - and theirs are awesome. Tyson's Star Talk has gone downhill as far as content goes in my opinion. As his popularity has risen, my fondness of him as dwindled.
a very underrated podcast is Probably Science with Matt Kirshen, Andy Wood, and Jesse Case. Brooks Wheelan was an original founder but left when he got the gig on SNL. this podcast looks at the week's news in science and offers a comedic twist; i'd highly recommend it. one of the hosts, andy wood, is the "cousin-in-law" of shane battier and talks about back in the mid to late 2000s, their family would fly down and hang with the rockets. the host went to juwan howards bday party and has hung out with yao. http://www.probablyscience.com/
Just finished the Pacific Northwest- Black Tapes. Probably my favorite podcast ever, at least since Serial Season 1. Very, very good. On my favorites list- Reply All Filmspotting Limetown Lore WTF w Marc Maron Reveal Guys We ****ed NoSleep Podcast Unsolved Ground Zero Hannibal Buress I Am Rapaport Stuff the Didn't Want You To Know We're Alive The Generation Why I gave up on music. Cancelled my sub to Sirius, just not worth it anymore with all of this free stuff.
I pretty much listen to nothing but comedy podcasts: Comedy Bang Bang - loose improv comedy with celebrity guests and characters Jordan, Jesse, Go - conversational comedy with NPR host Jesse Thorn, comedy writer Jordan Morris, and a guest My Brother, My Brother, and Me - The McElroy brothers give bad advice to listeners and goof on ridiculous Yahoo Answers questions Stop Podcasting Yourself - conversational comedy with Canadian comedians Graham Clark, Dave Shumka, and a guest Judge John Hodgman - John Hodgman settles disputes The Adventure Zone - D&D play-through starring the McElroy brothers and their dad CoolGames Inc - Griffin McElroy and Nick Robinson from Polygon try to come up with ideas for video games Doughboys - chain restaurant review show hosted by comedy writer Nick Wiger & Birthday Boys member Mike Mitchell Hollywood Handbook - comedy writers Hayes Davenport & Sean Clements are Hollywood big shots Baby Genuises - comedian Emily Heller & illustrator Lisa Hanawalt (Bojack Horseman) discuss crazy Wikipedia articles and talk to crazy characters Adam Ruins Everything - an extension of the TruTV show where Adam Conover brings experts on to further discuss topics from the show And I just started listening to The Flophouse, which is a bad movie podcast that's been around since 2007 hosted by two Daily Show writers and their friend.
No such thing as a fish (4 facts/jokes) the memory palace (beautiful vivid story telling) This American Life Bill Burr (could listen to the man rant about almost anything) Heavyweight (story telling but where people try to fix past mistakes) Joe Rogan Reply All RadioLab Sampler (bit size samples of different podcasts)
interesting no one has mentioned smodcast or kevin smith gang/group. smod used to be one of the staples back in the day...think some random smodcast was the first podcast i had ever listened too. haven't listened in awhile...still know its around...it just fallen off that badly?
Anyone know of any podcasts that replay the old Art Bell shows? I found a site but I'm not paying $10 a month for it.
BBall podcasts and Hardcore History for me. Anyone has any good history podcasts recommendations? Preferably world history and not just american or british.
