Im watching preview clips of movies on my WMP 9.0. I have a PIII slow 450mgz computer .The previews are played correctly but look "blocky". Not anywhere close to vhs quality. When I reduce the image to about 2 inches its really clear and looks vhs,but on full screen or even half screen it looks blocky.I also have roadrunner broadband.I havent used a P4 yet so thats why Im asking this. My question for those with pentium 4's(with cable) out there,is ,is the clarity of the picture much clearer on WMP with a P4 than on a Pentium 3 or is it all related to your internet speed?
It has nothing to do with the type of processor you have or your internet speed. Previews like that aren't meant to be high quality; they're meant to be easy to download. They sacrifice quality for smaller file size.
What about movies that are over 30 minutes long from the internet? Is that the same rule, file size smaller for easier download? Also, when I play cd-roms like 2 hours long they also appear blocky and jagged edges of items in full screen. If I was to put the same cd-rom in a P4 would the quality be the same as p3?
yes and yes. like TraJ said - its not about the processor or internet speed - its about the resolution of the video
