I guess I'm a tougher critic. Part of the problem is that I can't but help and compare it to past TCQ albums. In that case, this one isn't quite as good. There are some songs that make it to that level, but as an album it's not as good as their past work. That being said, it is better than 90% of the genre that's out there.

Not sure how it happened, but I totally missed the boat on these guys. Too busy listening to Public Enemy back in the day, I guess.

Where is a good place to start, assuming I really like this new single?

My favorites are People's Instinctive Travels...
    and
    Low End Theory...

That may mean you want to check out all of the others besides those... Or you can trust me. Some of their bigger hits are from those albums.

    This has been the norm.

This album is good by today's standards, but it's towards the bottom by the Tribe's standards. Either way,I'm glad they released this.

At their best they were pretty even in my mind. Phife was just the underdog so made him seem more impressive. I bought the physical CD just to support the effort.

Exactly. Phife was initially like Scrappy Doo screaming "Let me at em!" Over time he came into his own (and held his own) but never lost his aggressive underdog spirit.
Vinnie from Naughty By Nature is similar in that regard. Not nearly as good as Phife though.
As for Treach? He can spit with the best of them.

The Low End Theory is their masterpiece though...
