Right now Lebron James is getting lots of bashing on Cav's message board (even though it is only preseson).

I don't remember if Yao got the same from Rocket fans last year before he broke through?

I am expecting Lebron James going through same path as Yao -- early disappointment -- rise to stardome by the end of his rockie season.

    Any comments?

Maybe because we had glimpses of what Yao could do vs. the dream team in the olympics and then the world championships in Indiana.

Lebron hasn't really played against competetion of that caliber yet.

I hope Lebron is the biggest flop ever! Just the fact that he got so much hype and soooo much money already is simply rediculous!

I don't know about the BBS, but I know I for one talked with my friends about deporting Yao out of the US if he didn't start producing. Then Charles voiced our opinion on TNT and Yao made him eat...donkey hair...

Anyway, Yao got his fair share (and then some) of bashing, so I think it's only natural now with all the hype that we think they have to live up to our expectations as soon as they get in the league. LeBron will be fine as long as the pressure doesn't crush him.

Is that LeBron's fault? They kept hyping him up and he could have been the biggest jackass ever about it, but he's been really professional about the whole thing. To say you want him to be a flop just shows how narrowminded you are.

How can LeBron help that? If he was a cocky prick about the situation, then I would understand. But hes not. Blame the media, fans, scouts, Nike, etc..., but dont blame James.

LebRon ahould be fine. Hype happens for a reason. It happens because you have talent. And god Bless Cleveland. That city has no luck. They need some good fortune.

If it weren't for Charles Barkely, the lovefest for Yao may have never happened. Let's be honest. Charles made Yao a star.

I never seen Lebron play before on tv until last night on TNT. I thought he has the tool to be a fundamentally sound player, just the way he walks. He walks like Paul Pierce, Gerald Wallace type...so base on that i am assuming he will be a fundamental player based on his walking posture. But in terms of athleticism, I can't tell based on that game cuz he didn't really do much other than giving up the ball a lot. I never seen him drive to the hoop at all. One thing I learned though...he can't shoot! But can pass and see the court pretty good.

Because he's a rookie, I give him the benefit of a doubt. But he could be the most overhype player ever base on that one game i seen. He hasn't shown me anything. My opinion is it's going to be tough for him to live up the the expectation cuz it's tough to play in this league, nothing is going to be easy. He maybe able to dominate in unorganized games in high school, but NBA is about professionalism and organization so it's going to be tough to get anything going. Add that with pressure and being rookie and high school player, it's going to be even tougher. Plus, NBA players are saying they're gearing up to make it tough on him because of this hype that surrounds him.

    Agree

Don't agree. I think Yao played himself into a star. Shaq made him really famous (by taking 3 blocks in a row from Yao)

hey as long as the cavs aren't ever as good as the rockets than i don't really care what lebron does. but i do know the kid is 18 years old and this is his first nba preseason. something tells me that this isn't quite his prime yet.

it took kobe and tmac about 3 years to come into their own. just because the hype machine seemed to apply he would be at their level right now doesn't mean it's fair to expect that.

anyways, yao got his share of hate as well. now those people are eating their words or are in hiding.

James will be a fantastic player! I just hope that the Cavs dont ruin his development by expecting too much too early.

Actually I remember Yao having a much rougher time from sports writers across the country. Comments I've heard to date about LeBron are pretty forgiving -- he's young, his outside shot will come.

Remember when people were saying Yoa needed to dunk more. True. But I was thinking to myself how difficult can it be to teach someone 7-6, who could already shoot from the outside, to dunk more.

no kidding. Remember Dick Vitale. He said the rockets would regret drafting Yao Ming instead of Jay Williams. that guy is such an idiot

Man, I hated that last year when everyone was saying draft Williams instead. Let's see, we have an All-Star point guard, and a lazy (at the time) Kelvin Cato at center. Should we draft a center or a point guard?

At least we didn't listen to the media!
