I wish they would intermit club football for two or three weeks in September or October, just to get these annoying nonsense international games (Germany played San Marino on Friday in front of 3,000 spectators) done in one piece and didn't need to have the short breaks over and over again.

 

Of couse, Robben substituted because of thigh problems during the match of the century between Netherlands and Luxemburg. Bayern has to stop sending their players to national teams, seriously. **** this ****!

 

wouldn't being called up to national teams and players' contribution weigh in later on when managers are picking their teams for major tournaments (e.i. euros, cup of the world, etc.)? so technically players have to play to earn playing time later on?

 

Young and unproven players definetely, but when a player is good enough to get minutes on regular bases on a team like Bayern or Barca, Real, etc., no national coach in the world could afford to turn them down in a major tournament. The players of course would never refuse at least to participate in Qualification games, but something should be done to reduce the amount of games. There's no point in San Marino, Andorra and Gibraltar competing for a spot in the World Cup. But a reduction is not going to happen with the TV money in charge, they'll rather rise the number of contestants in the tournaments.

 

Vidal also substituted because on an injury, nice week for Bayern.

 

So obvious. Hopefully he's at least capable of playing 20 minutes or so on Saturday.

Xabi Alonso needs to go. He may still bring game control and good passes, but Bayern's defensive struggles start with him. Hope Vidal will be back soon, so he Alonso be benched. Same with Müller, who shouldn't see any minutes until the winter break.

And again: **** these international breaks. Cost us rhythm and three players come back injured. So sick of it...

 

Alonso is way past his prime. We would have been so much better off keeping Schweinsteiger. Never betray your roots.

 

Not sure Schweinsteiger can handle full time football on the highest level anymore. Bayern is set with Vidal, Thiago, Kimmich and Sanches. Hope Ancelotti gives them more minutes.

 

in other news, liverpool with the 0-0 thriller just 2 weeks after everyone crowned them favorites to win the epl. in a day full of goals, this was the only game which didn't produce.

seems to me, all you have to do against lfc is park the bus. after the 0-0 stalemate with manu, that should be the formula to defeat lfc's high pressure football. chelsea is probably going to overtake lfc and city as the league leaders tomorrow.

 

Told you guys that this would happen, Klopp just can't figure out a plan B vs opponents that settle on counter attacking and it was what ended his success at Dortmund.
You'd expect for him to come up with a strategy for these situations, but nope.
