[Nerdy Cool Story Bro] Best Buy & The GTX 1080 Founders edition

    So, today on slickdeals I got an alert for 1080 Founders Edition for $449. Normally these things sell for $699. It was clearly a price mistake for the lower tier 1070 FE. It was an eBay via best buy thing, however they had it listed on their website as well. So I purchased with in store pick up, saw there was a store 9 miles from my office. I ordered, got order confirmation, drove down during an early lunch break and boom, They had a 1070 founders not a 1080 sitting there waiting for me. I showed them my email, stating I came for a 1080 not a 1070 playing dumb and acting like it wasn't for me and that I knew nothing about the things. Anyway, an the cashier asked for a tech guy to check on the item, he stated the card I ordered was not the card they brought out for me, and went back and grabbed one. Then he says, this isn't the normal price, so they called the store manager. After sitting around for 20 minutes (from walking in to talking with the manager) he simply said to price match their online price. BOOM! Walked out with a $700 card for about 2/3 of the cost. The tech guy did mention that I was probably going to be the last one at that store to get it, but it seems quite a few slickdealers prevailed as well!

    Just wanted to share my story!

    A 1080 for $450 + tax. Insane. Even more insane that Best Buy actually let people walk out with it lol.

    Man... I was going to get one too. I didn't check the thread again after I saw it initially but I'm sure bby caught on by now and was sure it was price mistake.

    Yeah, it's dead now... Couldn't go earlier... If you want to sell for $450 + tax let me know ;) hahah. Man I need to setup alerts on slickdeals but never works...

    Anyway quick question, on slickdeals.net do you use their app or just direct on their site for deal alerts? I also missed out recently on the Amazon Prime Now mistake on 980 ti gtx's for under $200... https://hardforum.com/threads/980-tis-cheap-on-prime-now-in-texas.1915777/

    I have a 970, probably don't need upgrade. . . but yes, please! !     Hah, not rich, just that hardware manufacturers want us to support their gear so they send stuff to us, Alienware, Razer, Nvidia, AMD, lots of stuff. Right now I have a Titan in my PC, and a Titan X sitting here ready to go into it. I gave my new 1080 to our CTO to play with the new VR stuff.

    It is kind of neat - but keeping a config lab going with a small team is a hassle.

    Oh, and Apple is stingy they don't send crap.....

    I was not successful in setting things up on the app, but I never really tried to do it, so I'd be half truthing if I said it didnt work. I mainly use the website for my alerts. I check it every morning, so I've missed quite a few deals.

    I just bought an Asus PA328q on Jet for 846.72. 15% off first time buyer (they limit the total discount to $30 bucks I think), plus no return discount. These things normally sell for $999.99 + tax. $200 plus discount.

    I bought a dell ultrasharp or whatever 4k 27" monitor like a year and a half ago, has worked great for me. I might be waiting on those acer predators to take a plummet before I upgrade my monitor. But nice find!
