This is a chick & egg thing. The only thing Boki needs right now is play time. How can he get that if you don't play him? Yao didn't start until the 10th game(?) last year, and he was very inconsistent as well. I'm not saying we should start Boki, but you need to give the guy the opportunity to show his stuff. After the all, he was a middle 1st round draft.
I dont think we are saying dont let him play at all, just that he shouldnt be starting. He will get plenty of time to play n a backup role, VG has shown he does have some faith in his abilities. But at this point....we need our experienced 3's on the floor to start. If Boki continues his improvement and beats out JJ/Pike?AG, then fine....run with him. but until then...stick with the vets.
We may have depth at the 3 but that is by far our most unsettled position, EG's AWOL notwithstanding. In fact AD, JJ and Pike have just arrived and they coming here may be purely a scramble act after losing Posey. None of these guys CD and co. would hurry to pencil in if they had a choice. Individually and collectively they are stop gap measures. They do have the ablilty to start and can be considered insurance just in case Boki comes along slower. We should also keep in mind that Boki has been a professional for some time and has played internationally, so handing him the starting SF spot on a non-playoff team cannot be so much of a stretch. I am thinking that the spot is up for grabs and solid, eye opening performances against Denver and Spurs could seal the deal.
Boki should stay in the rotation, but shouldn't start IMHO. We have 3 capable vets who are proven rotation players in this league. I still think EP is going to light it up this year both at backup 2 and 3.
i honestly think that if boki keeps up the solid play the last 2 preseason games, he should get the starting nod. i'll also think that boki is a much better role player than the focus of the offense type of player. if you noticed in the beginning of the preseason games he played the bulk of his minutes with the 2nd and 3rd teams and was the focus of the offense. and when he was pressured to score the bulk of the points he didn't play too well. but when he's in the lineup with steve and yao, he feeds off of them a lot better. don't get me wrong though, i still feel like he's unproven but i'm all behind him and hopefully with the playing time he's getting, he'll be a contributor to this team
Which do you think is more productive? Francis & JJax backed by Moochie & Boki or Francis & Boki backed by Moochie & JJax My vote goes to the latter. Francis takes the heat off of Nachbar and JJax (when he gets his touch back) takes the heat off of Moochie. Better synergy if Nachbar hustles and hits his shots.
In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter who starts the game. Im more interested in the person who can finish the game. Just making a fairly obvious and not really funny observation. carry on......
