Maybe one day I will talk more about this "event" that took place on October 15, 2003, but not now and not for some time in the foreseeable future. I will just say two things: 1) Read the new sig 2) I have zero interest in watching the World Series. I am hoping that it is the lowest rated one ever. The Marlins have no clue on how special it is to reach the World Series and for them to be in it for the 2nd time in their 11 year history sickens me.
I am in the middle of writing a novel/screenplay about the Astros no hitter of the Yankees if it makes you Red sox fans feel any better. There is still hope. Trust me.
Baseball season ended for me last night. I will not watch a single minute of this world series. Yanks will win in 5. BO-RING!
I hate the Yankees. I'm not a Red Sox fan but I am a bonafide Yankee hater. F*cking George might as well by the damn World Series every year that worthless piece of ****!
Screen play?? Cool. Starring: Elijah Wood as Kirk Saarloss Adam Goldberg as Pete Munro Colin Ferrellas Roy Oswalt Vin Diesel as Brad Lidge Jude Law as Billy "The Kid" Wagner and Jon Voight as Jimy Williams (ok, so my casting stucks)
I echo both of your thoughts here...the Curse of the Bambino on HBO is a great, great documentary.... and Go Marlins!
Good morning Sox fans. Even though I was rooting with all my might against a Sox victory, I feel your pain (RRS survivor '00-'03)
Ok, in the movies when they are in Texas, everyone has a cowboy hat on. Last night, every freagin' time they showed the crowd, they look like the chumps they show in movies in New York. I was ready to see Tony Manero walk up the aisle with his paint can in his hand. They all look so typical, like everytime they talk the first two words out of their mouth is "Hey, yo." Right after 9 11, I felt for New York, but now, I am going back to my feelings of not liking them all to well. I was rooting for the Sox, and now I am rooting for the Marlins, I like teams that are built from the draft and not from trades and free agency. GO MARLINS.
Exactly! The real story this season is about the teams that did not make it in. The World Series will be placed behind the ALCS and NLCS in interest.
Everyone b****ing about the upcoming WS matchup needs to get over it. We just had 2 of the greatest Championship series' in MLB history. Not much can live up to those games. No one picked the Marlins to be where they are now. They barely had a fan base at the beginning of the season. Remember this is a franchise that was promptly ripped apart after they won the WS just a few years ago and for them to get back so quickly is amazing. Look at the team: Great young pitchers Legendary performace by their discarded catcher Awesome performances by a number of other 20-something players I think this series will be better than alot of people think.
What Huizenga did was shameful and that action alone should have given that franchise the death penalty. If it wasn't for that, I would probably watch because I admit that the Marlins are an amazing team and they have had an exciting run. But sorry, no, I can't do it because if I watched, I would be sitting there wondering how long it will be before we see Beckett, Cabrera, Penny, Pierre, etc be on other teams, mainly on the Yankees and that angers me.
Bronson Arroyo - Came over from Pittsburg John Burkett - from Atlanta Alan Embree - from San Diego Todd Jones - from Colorado Derek Lowe - from Seattle Pedro Martinez - from Montreal Scott Sauerbeck - from Pittsburg Jeff Suppan - from Pittsburg Mike Timlin - from Philadelphia Tim Wakefield - from Pittsburg Scott Williamson - from Cincinnati Doug Mirabelli - from Texas Damien Jackson - from Detroit Lou Merloni - from San Diego Kevin Millar - from Florida Bill Mueller - from San Francisco David Ortiz - from Minnesota Todd Walker - from Cincinnati Johnny Damon - from Oakland Gabe Kapler - from Colorado David McCarty - from Oakland Manny Ramirez - from Cleveland Jason Varitek - career Red Sock Nomar Garciaparra - career Red Sock Trot Nixon - career Red Sock They don't even have as many career players as the Yankees (Pettite, Rivera, Posada, Jeter, Williams, Contreres, Matsui, Soriano). I think you were rooting for the wrong team based on your not built through trades and FA philosophy.
'tek came over from the Seattle system along with Derek Lowe in the lopsided trade for Heathcliff Slocumb (that trade kind of takes the sting off Bagwell-Andersen, doesn't it?)
My bad, should have looked at the sox roster better, but no matter what, I still couldn't root for the yanks
Woops, I didn't even look at minor league careers, my list was just based on where they played in the majors. I'm assuming Trot and Nomaaah were drafted at least.
C'mon Manny, you know that Boston has the #2 highest payroll in the league and will just as likely pick up players from low-budget teams as the Yankees (check out StupidMonikor's post right below yours). If you do watch the WS, you'll be watching so that the Yankees lose. I'll be watching so that teams like the Red Sox and Yankees can't always count on buying a championship.
On the other side of that, what the hell were they doing at Fenway? Putting the world series logo on, were they afraid that if they waited too long the paint wouldn't be dry in time?
You misinterpreted my post. Yes, there is no question that Boston can sign players that most teams cannot because of their revenue stream; however, it is that large payroll that is probably going to cost them Garciaparra. Think about it, how do you think they can afford Manny, Pedro, and Nomar?? Besides, my point is more about the immediate demolition of that '97 Marlins team. Huizenga could not wait to start showing guys the door out of Miami. And I am happy that small market teams are doing good, but you don't endear yourselves to anyone, especially your fans, when you immediately decide to do a firesale. If anything that drives the interest down and makes it that much harder to generate the precious revenue that management is looking for in the first place. Why else do you think that the Marlins were averaging 16,000 fans for most of this season? Their fans couldn't get into the team because Huizenga alienated them.
I love it when I'm right "Turn out the lights. the party's over" There will be no tomorrow for the Redsox. "It aint over till it's over" The ship has sunk beneath the waves. Go Yanks!!!!
