If that's your framing then I agree. Typically some ppl and most of the sports media framing it more in binary frame work.
Don't mean to be off topic, but don't want to start a new thread about it: Would you rather be a Rockets fan or Blazers? Blazers lost Sam Bowie (2nd overall 1984 pick before Jordan).real quick, lost Drexler after losing to the Bulls in the finals a few years earlier, Brandon Roy injuries, losing Aldridge in FA, and of course busty Oden. You all know the Rockets situation (Yao / TMac injuries, first round delema, other stuff in missing. ...) Glad I was born in Houston than rainy Oregon
The Blazers only have that 1 finals appearance since Bill Walton broke his foot. They were on pace to set the league record for wins coming off their lone championship season and Walton gets hurt they convince him to take a shot in his foot so he can play and he snaps it on an uncontested rebound and they have drafted 2 centers that couldn't stay on the court because of injuries since that year. It would suck to be a fan of a team with that kind of bad luck.
oden was a way better player but he was also hyped up like no other. maybe only lebron had more hype around him. Bennet, everyone questioned in a weak draft. even oden said he will go down as the biggest bust in history. especially since durant was drsfted after him
He's a bust in terms not fulfilling his draft pick potential. But you can't really blame a man due to injuries. If he was healthy, he'd turn out to be a pretty good center judging by the handful of games he's played.
Now that I look back, I think Jeff Van Gundy took a shot at Oden's appearance and age when he made the 'Benjamin Button' comment in regards to Oden's full recovery and success years ago. It was cleverly disguised. Way to go JVG.
Agree. Calling Oden a bust due to injur y is a bit of a stretch. Bennett on the other hand was mostly just fat and uninterested. Let's see if Brooklyn can help turn around his play. Had a couple of decent games this year, though nothing spectacular.
