munco - I'm honored to be part of your sig, add me twice if you would like. Thanks. :D

I don't hate JVG. I dislike him and think he is a mediocre coach who has never won a championship even though some of his teams had very good/great talent.

My biggest problem is the way Les handled the whole thing. Les wanted Larry Brown so he fired Rudy (forced retirement whatever:rolleyes: ), then he got cheap and low balled the offer to Brown who got insulted and accepted the pistons job, then having slapped Rudy in the face he was forced to settle for JVG.

IMO, Les was forced to settle for an inferior coach than the coach who brought this city it's only 2 pro championships. The whole thing still turns my stomach.

All of that said I hope that JVG can some how inspire our players to push themselves to get the Rockets to the next level... but I have my doubts.

The East was actually better ~6, 7 yrs ago and before.
The 2 conf. were about even 4, 5 yrs ago.
The West only dominated the last 2, 3 yrs.
I guess you are boasting knowledge on subjects other than BB?!!:)

JVG did in one preseason what Rudy couldn't do in 5 years- make Steve pass the ball and play within the offense!

You guys still hate JVG after these last 2 games?

VooDooPope, I'm glad you're honored. I obviously don't think JVG is an inferior coach, but I could be wrong. It'll be easier to decide that in the future. As a person, I think Rudy is as great as they come in pro sports but in terms of coaching and this Rockets team I think JVG is the answer. In any case, we'll soon find out if JVG is right for this team.

There are more news on this subject than before. Some of the stories I read said:
. JVG was our 1st choice.
. JVG turned down better offer from Wash to come here.
    . LB never wanted Houston.
    ...

Actually I am not ready to bash in JVG. I think we all need to hold off and wait and see how the season goes first. A change is what the Rockets needed. The Rockets were broken, and they weren't producing under Rudy T. (Don't get me wrong, I love Rudy T) but the players more likely took him for granted. Then we bring in the BIG BAD JVG into Houston. Now we'll see what he will do. On an interesting note, after last nights game, did anyone notice JVG walked to the locker room on his own, and wasn't even smiling. With Rudy T, every time we won, he would be huggin his players, smiling and more. But it is totally different with JVG. So, let's see how he does. I would consider a play-off spot a successful season with JVG.

man, if you cant even be bothered to read the thread...you've got absolutley no business being that abusive.

I dont agree with the guy either, but you dont see me posting crap like you did...and at least I gave him the respect of actually reading his reasons for not liking VG.

JVG was probably feeling out-of-sorts with the Southern hospitality...I think Rocket Rich NYC is just trying to make JVG feel at home. ;)

I don't care about people's assessments of JVG or his past. Let him do his job. We'll see the outcome soon enough.

    Good luck, JVG.

Just curious, with Rudy gone, who would you have selected?

And don't say "I would have kept Rudy". Whether VG was here or not, Rudy was gone, so speak up.

    Who???

Boo hoo Rocket Rich!! Maybe you should go find a job with someone other than the Rockets...

I think I speak for alot of fans in saying that we needed someone to step in and reality check these young bucks.

GO JVG lets get to the playoffs!

JVG may not have too many friends or admirers in Houston or NYC right now and his standoff'ish attitude doesn't improve his chances at being Mr. popular but it's his coaching abilities that Les hired him for...the jury is still out on that.
Let's give the man a chance.

Why don't you give Van Gundy a chance? He has inherited probably the worst mismatched bunch of underachievers ever to step on the floor. (see our trading three first round picks Mr. Eddie Griffin)
The problem with Van Gundy is all the crap that was left to him from Rudy.Possibly the worst judge of talent and charecter of all time.( See Moochie Norris) Do you remember we had three chances to get our hometown star Rasheed and instead Rudy wanted Bryce Drew, Michael Dickerson and Mirsad Turkan. Need I say more?
At least Van Gundy got rid of Rice. He needs to sweep the floor with everyone else.
This team is a tragic mess. I hope he can clean it up.

Harsh words Rig...I suppose there's a hint of truth to what you say, but it's your opinion(no matter how you state it) and I respect that.
Following your logic, did Rudy T have the best group of overachieving players that was ever assembled in '94 and '95?!!
