    Ok,

I just heard my first 2 Cold Play songs, and I like em a lot.

Any recommendations for albums I should get?

    Thanks,

    DD

Great band...I would recommend anything by them.

I own Parachutes and Rush of Blood to the Head, and they are both excellent(I prefer Rush, but Parachutes has some gems as well).

I like 'Rush of Blood' better than 'Parachutes' - I think its a better starter CD for someone new to Coldplay.

'Parachutes' is a great CD but its a bit on the mellow side.

well there's only 2 cds to choose from. imo, a rush of blood to the head was maybe the best cd of this past year and parachutes is alright i guess.

There's a video on the Vh1 website for a song called Moses. It's from the concert DVD they are releasing. Is that a new song or is it a b-side from a single or something? It's a good song btw.

Actually I found Parachutes to be far superior as an album. Really well tied together with hidden gems like "Always", solid support songs like "trouble" and "shiver" and a big bomber like "Yellow".

I have a special affinity to this record because back when I used to puff the dank my little brother and I bought this album at Hastings without ever hearing any of the songs on it when it first came out and put it in the trucks CD player and drove around on a sunny day with a fattie. We couldn't stop until the album finished. Wonderful stuff. Never forget it. The album was good too:D

A rush.... is more mainstream while parachutes is more for the gourmets. The same situ with a lot of debuts and follow ups.

but in general both are quite good but I heard it enough for this year.

Get the Strings Quartet Tribute to Coldplay. Their rendition of Yellow is awesome.

    Dakota,

You can't go wrong with either album although you need to buy both.

    Best songs from "Parachutes" include:

    "Yellow"
    "Spies"
    "Shiver"

Best songs from "A Rush of Blood to the Head" include:

    "Politick"
    "The Scientist"
    "Clocks"

But all of their songs are good.

starting to suspect the people who like 'rush of' better got that first and then got parachutes later, ie once they were out there and popular

maybe that's why i like like parachutes better, cause i got that when i first came out, when i was like wow, who the hell are these guys and there music was out there and unreal.

I finally checked out "The Scientist" after so many (pathetic) people on here were talking about it. It's a nice song, not nearly as emotion-inducing as Something Corporate's Konstantine (not as good on the piano either) but I did like it.

I got Rush before Parachutes. I had only heard Yellow and Trouble. Still, I'm pretty sure if I owned Parachutes first, I would probably think that Rush is an even greater leap forward than I do know.

Pickup a Radiohead album, the original (and much better) version of Coldplay.

I hate that. Why can't people enjoy both equally.

coldplay's been wildly popular here in the uk (consistently chart-topping). and even now their songs get way too much airplay (if that's possible). but i love their stuff too.

have they not been as successful back in the states?

i hate that crap too. personally i can't stand radiohead at all but really enjoy coldplay. there's little bits and pieces of similarities between the two but they're completely different bands.

No kidding. It is the envogue thing to do, I guess, to say that Coldplay is a carbon copy of Radiohead when in reality they are nowhere close to being the same. They are both from Britain. So using that logic, REM and the Smashing Pumpkins are two bands that are the same because they are both from the U.S.
