I love this game of hot potato we're playing with the blame for Trump's rise. It's honestly hilarious. The first smile I've cracked since Florida was called.
Yeah, there wasn't anything there to that. So is this equal to banning all muslims? Gun control is now being compared to xenophobia? Obama didn't attack a single demographic with dangerous rhetoric. Yeah, Muslims have plenty of reasons to be concerned. Walk a bit in their shoes for a moment. If there is another crazy nut that shoots up a place in the name of Islam I fear how Trump and his emboldened supporters will react to it.
Infringing on one right is no different than infringing on any other. Also, Obama's dangerous rhetoric created the atmosphere of racial tension that exists today....something that hasn't been this bad in a long time. Obama was a dangerous president, but the country managed to survive. Those who think Trump will deport Muslims or whatever are really no different than those who were calling Obama an undercover Muslim terrorist....be better than those people. Honestly though, if you aren't going to be better than those people, don't get upset when people mock you and laugh at your ridiculous fears. I've said for a while that Trump is the living embodiment of everything wrong with our culture and sure enough, as soon as the election was over, those on the left proved me right. The hate and petty nonsense coming from those people is as bad and in many cases worse than the worst things Trump has ever done. He's the president those people deserve.
Most people do not become racists as adults. They were fostered in the mentality throughout their whole childhood. If I got a dollar for every racist joke (almost 80% against blacks, 10% against Jews, and another 10% against all other ethnicities) I heard growing up, I'd be able to pay off a student loan or two. These were kids telling jokes to other kids. And where did they learn them from? Older kids and family members. It's not like PBS was having Racist Hour with Jim Crow. "Racism's still alive, they just be concealin' it." - Kanye West 2004 Today, a lot of them have an implicit nod that they no longer have to conceal it. @Bobbythegreat might blame Obama for it. And he's right in a sense because by having a non-white president, we brought a lot of racial issues out in the open that were just festering and being mostly overlooked by the white mainstream America (e.g. police brutality, racial profiling by police, criminal justice inequalities, you know the stuff Black Lives Matter have been protesting about). It's painful to bring up, and by doing so it empowers people who think it's OK the way it currently is to also speak up. It's why people started saying Blue Lives Matter or All Lives Matter, as a counter to the idea that blacks are being unfairly treated. They actively disliked the phrase Black Lives Matter, but Blue Lives Matter was fine. I've seen people say that's because Black was the "problem". No one said Blue Lives Matter when a white guy murdered two cops.
I would ask you what Obama said that was so dangerous and divisive but it's more deflection from the actual point. Ridiculous fears? Did you just ignore the spike of anti-muslim violence? Are you just excusing it as well? You said nothing to that at all but deflect, deflect, and deflect from the point I was making. The spike of anti-muslim violence. the problem is never with the racists for people, the actual people that attacked Muslims...no the problem is with people like me for calling them Racists. I'm the divisive one for calling a racist a racist. That's just backwards.
FWD: FWD: FWD: http://www.snopes.com/kurt-cobain-predicted-donald-trump-presidency-in-1993/ False stuff like this is why the world sucks. People are gullible. Someone deliberately lied and took advantage of both someone else's trust and naivety.
Police: Lafayette student lied about being robbed of wallet, hijab by Trump supporters The University of Louisiana at Lafayette student who said she was robbed of her hijab head covering and wallet and beaten by two white men near campus fabricated the entire story, according to Lafayette Police. The 18-year-old Middle Eastern student reported to police Wednesday that she was walking to class about 11 a.m. when two white men, one wearing a Donald Trump hat, jumped out of an SUV, struck her and hit her repeatedly. She also said the men yelled racial slurs at her, ripped her hijab off her head and stole her wallet. She has since admitted to police that she lied about the attack. http://wgno.com/2016/11/10/police-l...g-robbed-of-wallet-hijab-by-trump-supporters/
And there will probably be a lot more of those false reports in order to push a political narrative. It's just what happens when things are as divided as they are now with such hatred coming from the people who lost the election. Hopefully time will calm them down.
This is just as bad, if not worse. Social media magnifies these things x100. It's really unfortunate. False accusations hurt the people who actually are victims of the crimes. Next time something like this happens, people are going to be less likely to believe it.
I actually said that not all of them will be real. The problem is Bobby you seem to not be able to acknowledge the hate coming from the right, I wish you just would do that. This isn't a one sided thing here.
Listen @Bobbythegreat. I am extremely hurt and disappointed by the election results. And I have a bit of hatred from it as well. Why? Because I am afraid. I am afraid because Donald Trump is going to do what he says he is going to do. I am afraid of what happens when we face our next national crisis. Authoritarian nationalism scares me because history has many examples of how it ends. But there is no narrative for me to push. Just the hope that by surrounding himself with GOP hacks he will be at worst another George W Bush for our country. At best, his rhetoric was all bull and he too promotes liberalism. Not liberalism in the DNC sense, but in the open markets, personal liberty, and pursuit of human equality kind. Social liberalism is my flavor of liberalism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_liberalism
Right now, all I'm seeing is hate coming from the left and fake stories to go along with people in the streets burning flags and tearing up other people's property.....who then use those fake stories as an excuse for their actions. If I saw groups of angry right wingers in the streets then I'd speak out against them. That said, as far as I've seen, all the destructive protests and riots have been angry people of the left.
What do you make of some of these Trump rallies? The spike of anti-muslim violence reported by the FBI means nothing to you at all? You think this is truly one sided? The left just hates the right and that's that? Did you miss the tea party rallies? What do you say to this Bobby? http://kxan.com/2016/11/10/flyer-calling-for-vigilante-squads-circulating-around-texas-state/ Do you see how crap like this could motivate someone to HATE people that support Trump? Just like you see how a Trump supporter could HATE someone for making a false story about another Trump supporter or calling another Trump supporter racist? Can't you see that the right has many people too helping breed hate with crap like that?
