The thread title refers to an article by Fran Blinebury, which I will not bother posting. Rather than waste time reading it, I'll sum it up for you. - spent 3-1st round picks on EG - EG punched teammate in college - JVG quote says they won't sacrifice team for individuals BUT, the reason I started the thread is because he mentions a piece of EG trivia that I did not know. "Now he is 21 with a child of his own." It may be common knowledge the Eddie has a child, but I didn't know it. I would give it a 75% chance that any personal problems he may be having, are associated with this.
We need to arrange a day or two for Eddie and Shawn Kemp to get together and hang out. Eddie will look at the Rainman and say, hmmm...I don't want to be that guy. That's a guy that used to be an All-Star and the premier power forward in the NBA, but he let himself go and now he has like 70 kids, 60 lbs of fat, and daaaaamn if he don't have some serious STD's. Not to mention using his whole paycheck to support all of his hoes and illegitimate children. Maybe that will finally motivate him.
I really hope that this works out for the Rockets. But for now I can only say what a waste, and what a crying shame. Time To Punch In Eddie. The Factory Needs You.
that would be a huge reality check for him! another good one would be for him to work at a fast food place for a day since that's about where his skills are at after 1 year of "higher education". That future would scare the crap out of him too.
We, as fans, shouldn't get too down as a result of this whole ordeal. I mean, from here on, things will get better with Eddie. At least they'll get no worse. If this crap is what we've grown to expect out of the guy, it should be very easy for him to exceed everyone's expectations from here out. Maybe if he starts picking up those types of vibes he'll get on a roll for once and his confidence will finally begin to build. I honestly feel sorry for the guy. I know he's a good kid, I just think he's holding himself back. Eventually he can get through this, but if he keeps screwing up his image, his self image will get no better and neither will he as a player.
Don't insult Shawn Kemp by comparing him to Eddie Griffin. He was an all-star early in his career. Eddie will never get to an all-star game unless it's in the CBA.
Let's chill out. This reminds me of the witch hunt about Cato. I remember one thread that got to the point where posters were saying that they wanted someone to kill Cato. There were hundreds of posts that were ridiculous in their overeactions and hatred of the guy. Now with patience and understanding we have a player. Eddie is a disappointment, for sure. He is 21 and still can get better, especially if psych issues are holding them back and they can be resolved. He does have some talent. Maybe he needs a season as the 12th man to take the pressure off while he develops his game and grows up. Is that the end of the world? I'm trying hard to figure out why the extreme harshness. Is it just natural disappointment? Is it something endemic to the Bible belt and-- a desire to see issues simplistically as good and evil? Authoritarianism? Is it a desire to deny that we have ever had problems while growing up? I really don't understand, but I think it is foolish.
Let people decide for themselves if they want to read the entire article. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/blinebury/2162611 Raven
That is not because he is good enough, its because its a "Pop star" game instead of the true all-stars. Fans don't want to see good players, they want to see the excitement. James isn't that good.
