Doubtful he is suspended for the pregnancy issue.. the suspension would be for the lack of brain-function from being such a knucklehead that he didn't at least notify the team, now for the SECOND time..

    argh

I disagree to an extent. The worst conceivable time to trade Eddie would be if and when he is incarcerated. If a stock is falling, do you sell it before it becomes completely valueless? Maybe so. I sold some Web-Van stock when it started sliding, and it became worth $0.00 eventually.

One thing that has me wondering is that the team was delaying picking up his option. It seems/seemed to many on the BBS that picking it up was a given despite his falling short of expectations. But the team wanted to see what was going to happen in October before deciding. If Eddie's current troubles are related to this decision by the Rockets, it would suggest that his recent no-shows were a culmination of a temporally-lengthy and quite serious issue that they could actually hope to learn something about this month. Of course, it is also possible the two are unrelated, they just wanted to see how Eddie would play and this thing came up unexpectedly. But, I have to wonder.

    Theories so far:

    1. Depression
    2. Drug Abuse
    3. Unhappy with Team
    4. Money Trouble
    5. Pregnancy/Woman-Trouble

If the Rockets' delay and Griffin's no-shows are related then the last two theories wouldn't make much sense. The Rockets seem to have gone to some pains to explain it is not an issue Eddie has with the team, and Eddie said so himself.

What did I predict 3 days ago before none of this came out. I predicted that Badiane would have a better career and Eddie most likely would be out of the L in 5 years. I stated this because as I trained to be a Drug Counselor I learned some things. I see alot of hints in Eddies modes and lack there of. Everyone seems to have known already he is a pothead except people on this board. I still cant understand why we turned down Shard unless Les is that freakin cheap he didnt want to keep spending Rices salary allotment for Lewis contract when he could let it expire next summer to save money.

This team would be a championship contender right now:

    francis
    mobley
    lewis
    Kenny Thomas/Taylor
    Ming/Cato

JVG sounded sensative to what EG was going through, but very upset with the way he handled it. He clearly has a valid excuse, but isn't dealing with it very maturely.

    my 2 cents

Dear CodeII, do you understand what MFW and I meant now? Obviously JVG shares the same view with us.

I absolutely agree with you that young players do need help to improve themselves, mentally and physically. And it is not totally their fault for behaving immaturely. I do blame League for not placing age limit for the draft.

But, since they enter the league as a pro player and are paid big money for this, therefore the relationship between those players and club are no longer student / mentor relation but employee / employer relation. They share the same responsibility with other members, no matter how old they are, to make the team better. Lots of players lost their close family members and still came back to play just after a day or two. Why? They are paid to do their job and they know it is called “professionalism”.

Being childish may be tolerated in school, but not in Pro basketball.

If Eddie Griffin is pregnant, I think it's safe to say he's got bigger problems than basketball...

edit: I dont think its solely drugs. I figured it out. Ive seen this in Pippen and others who wanted to be traded. Eddie and his agent got together and figured out that since we are not going to extend him,why not just skip practice all the time and FORCE the rockets to trade him for pennies on the dollar as his value drops. They know that the rockets wont want him around, and would rather trade him for something instead of walking. They also know that the lower his value is,the better the team he is going to will be better off. Basically right now Eddie is relaxing at home laughing at us complaining about his trade value because he doesnt care. His agent told him to do this. I now predict he will NEVER play another Rocket practice ever again. His career as a rocket is over. He will not be either waivered or traded.

Ya know, I hope he is not traded or released, just so we don't have to listen to your "I said this would happen" over and over and over....

EG needs a baby-sitter to tell him what to do.
He is just irresponsible, and he is definitely depressed for sure.

Matt Stevens doesn't have anything to do at the moment. Let's start HIM at power forward...He can't be any worse than what he is at safety....

So my game is going to deteriorate because I'm not practicing with my teammates? Is my game is going to get worse? I'm asking you, is my game going to get worse? So what about my game? Is my game going to get better because other players are hurt on my team, I mean, do that hurt me? Do you think that hurts me? I'm being honest, people are hurt on my team but do that hurt me? Does that hurt me when I go out there and play 48 minutes, does that hurt me as a player? Does that hurt me if this person is hurt or that person is hurt? Do it hurt me?"

BTW, sweetie, what does any of this have to do with Malick having a better career? Do you have a calender that you mark off each day until EG is gone from the league? I really don't think your right about him being gone in five years. His output isn't stellar, but its enough to get him a few minutes as a backup for as long as he wants. He may turn into a very low double double guy, and imo that would be just fine.

And how can you diagnose EG's problems based only on watching him playing basketball and hearing soundbites from the news? People are a little more complicated than that. Also, smoking pot is a pretty common occurance among people in their teens and twenties. It doesn't point out any specific personality problems. If there is a drug problem, it is not pot. A drug problem would generally be an opiate like heroin or painkillers. We do know EG doesn't look like he's snorting lines of cocaine!

The pregnancy thing sounds like the main reason why hes acting wierd. I ain't mad at him if thats the case. People are allowed to totally freak out when it comes to that stuff. You gotta cut people slack in those cases.

This sucks. I thought he might need another year to get better. But with this kind of attitude, he's never going to reach his potential. Now I'm officially on trade Griffin bandwagon.

It is definately sad to see someone with all of his talent throwing it away like this if the rumors are true. I went to school with many talented athletes who just got caught up and it is a sad thing to see.

Hopefully this isn't the case and for his sake he has a good reason. I don't think it is that big of a deal right now until some more information comes out. Also, I don't think the Rockets are going to give up on Eddie. They will give him another shot until they are for sure he can't be reformed. It would be a horrible mistake if they jump to conclusions to quickly. Same with everyone else jumping to conclusions.
