Trump Org Server communicating with Russian bank during peak political events

Statement from the Clinton campaign:

In response to a new report from Slate showing that the Trump Organization has a secret server registered to Trump Tower that has been covertly communicating with Russia, Hillary for America Senior Policy Adviser Jake Sullivan released the following statement Monday:

“This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow. Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank.

“This secret hotline may be the key to unlocking the mystery of Trump’s ties to Russia. It certainly seems the Trump Organization felt it had something to hide, given that it apparently took steps to conceal the link when it was discovered by journalists.

“This line of communication may help explain Trump’s bizarre adoration of Vladimir Putin and endorsement of so many pro-Kremlin positions throughout this campaign. It raises even more troubling questions in light of Russia’s masterminding of hacking efforts that are clearly intended to hurt Hillary Clinton’s campaign. We can only assume that federal authorities will now explore this direct connection between Trump and Russia as part of their existing probe into Russia’s meddling in our elections.”

 

Did they pass the logs AND the encrypted hash to ensure log integrity? I have to assume not which means Vixie could have been duped.

 

I weigh the NYT story from an FBI informant leak over the wired story. the hackers provide a clear trail, but if the FBI can't provide a correlated link betweeem trump with Alfa, it's as slippery as hillarys email thing or xyz's campaign finance shenanigans with a foreign donor(s)

 

Repudiation is a legit concern and response when it comes to hacking, but if you can repudiate the logs, it could be possible to repudiate the hash depending on how robust the system is...like if they kept a hash in the first place or their sloppiness with infosec carried over to their implementation of the hash.

This is far too complex of an operation for Trump's guys to undertake. I mean I guess it could be true but the guy can't even run a semi organized campaign operation. I don't really see him being able to accomplish anything close to this.

 

Russian hackers probably bank more money from seizing funds and records without the target realizing it than propping up a loud mouthed bigot demagogue who didn't seem credible one whole year ago. Those coms are extra ordinary and should worry me more as a threat vector.

If I can't assume the fbi did just a little due diligence with the access they have by interviewing and consulting with the experts in the article, then I guess my faith the gov is more than ****ed.
