Any of you play against Kongo yet and watch what he does on the diplomacy screen when you tick him off? I busted out laughing when I saw it but maybe I'm reaching a bit. I won't spoil it... it's nothing monumental, but somewhat humorous.
Like I said, maybe I'm reaching, but I don't think I am. It's there... you just have to disappoint him. Do something like decline one of his trades, then watch what he does. Then think about who he is. C'mon, somebody other than me has to have that "lol" moment when seeing this. Then again, maybe it's just me.
I'm honestly afraid to get it. I used to play a while back and it was so damn addicting that I would play 10 hour binges while I was in college. Now I have a wife and a kid and responsibilities I am afraid I would go back into that black hole late nights and get 0 sleep haha.
So, I'm playing, and by 1934 AD, the only area I'm winning in is science. But I figure it's okay to be the most technologically advanced. England just declared war against me, and have come at me with a ton of crossbow units. I'm wiping them out with artillery, machine guns, and helicopters. The closest civilization to me in technology has field canons I think. Then all of a sudden, I'm being attacked by barbarians that match me in technology. They are attacking my cities with helicopters, machine guns. How did the barbarians somehow become as technically advanced as I am, and more so than all of the other civilizations? Anyone else notice this kind of thing?
I've been attacked by Barbarians that attacked me with technology almost equal to mine, but not sure where they came from -- they were far more advanced than the other civs nearby, though. Another issue may be that when you take over a city, the citizens get pissed, and if you don't take care of that in time, they revolt into barbarian-looking units. Are they really barbarians or some citizens that have rebelled?
It could be they learned some tech from unhappy citizens. I did take over a city near there. But the warning I got said Barbarians were approaching my city. The barbarians I saw on other continents were still back in the Iron age or bronze age basically.
That can't be all it is because the first game I played was on the lowest difficulty and they had superior firepower to most, if not all the civs other than me by 100-200 turns, I think. If you believe what Prima is saying in the following link, when you have too few amenities, citizens rebel and become barbarians and more barbarian encampments appear near the city : https://www.primagames.com/games/ci...n-6-understanding-amenities-and-how-they-work I know when I took over over a large city and citizens rebelled they looked like barbarians and were modern infantry units. I spent a lot of time beating those clowns down. Lol.
Thanks. I have several cities with the red amenities symbol on it. I think I was waiting for something like the city to stop producing because they were in rebellion like in previous civ games. But since that didn't happen, I didn't figure amenities were that important. Next time I'll know. Thanks for pointing that out.
I started a game as England at a few hours before work this morning. Each city will be focused on one output (e.g. gold, science, units, etc) but by turn 100 the Kongolese declare war on Leeds. I hold them off with two archers then take those two archers and wreck their capital. I had to stop by 6 am, but plan to continue the game this weekend. So far, a lot of fun.
Finally finished an Emperor game as China, while the game is fun as hell; diplomacy is kinda broken atm. Basically the AI will hate your guts unless one of two agendas matches up with your game plan, and you carefully encourage trade/benefits throughout courses of centuries. I have found usually Pericles and especially Gilgabro to be the most friendly. It's also quite amusing to be switching from governments to governments between peace and war. Makes me feel like this,
i dont think so. the only hard one to pick up would be the terrible civ outer space colony game. forget its name. You could buy a much cheaper earlier version and see if you like it first. They are all pretty similar. EDIT: Civilization: Beyond Earth - dont buy this crap
