He wouldn't have sent that memo unless it was big.

Unless more specifics (or charges) come out, I can't imagine this having any sort of election impact. Clinton was technically under an "open FBI investigation" throughout the spring and summer, and she consistently led in the polls... in fact, June was arguably her best polling month of the entire campaign. I haven't seen anyone particularly bothered by today's news except for people who were already voting for Trump or a third party.

I do think it could further unite and consolidate the GOP base, but I don't think the election is close enough to where that extra point or two would matter. In theory, it could help in close House and Senate races... but my hunch is that a lot of those GOP non-Trump voters (those "united" by this news) were already voting GOP downballot. We'll see.

You're right, because it was never technically closed. :) I put it in quotes for a reason. Seems like you're parsing words here. Comey said the FBI "learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the Clinton investigation." How is that not akin to "reopening" the investigation -- even if it's just to determine whether or not any of this is relevant to her case? They've obviously linked it SOMEHOW with the Clinton investigation. Sounds like you just don't like the way it's being described because it sounds more troubling than it necessarily is. Comey went on to say that he "agrees that the FBI should take appropriate investigate steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whetehr they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation."

I dont believe that for a second. Hes already under scrutiny from the left and the right. everyone hates his guts for his awful handling of the case.

McMark is about to explode in a rage. Take it easy on him, fellow posters - I kind of like having him around and I fear he's going to say something to get him booted again.

Eh, I definitely can buy that. It would be a whole lot worse if they found some more information and kept it under wraps because they weren't sure what it would lead to. I think Comey did a decent job of coming out early, managing expectations, and not letting this have a huge effect on the election. The people have a right to know if the case is still being looked at with new information coming to light -- regardless of what that information is. But Comey made sure to state they didn't know where it would lead, if it would even lead to anything at all.

So.....If the letter referred to the investigation having been completed........pay attention here.....wouldn't "taking appropriate investigative steps" regarding a completed (which means closed) investigation be easily interpreted as re-opening said investigation.

No, I didn't like your fantasy comment because I don't approve of gay jokes. It's disrespectful to gays. It's 2016 - lose the hatred.

So how exactly do you review information "pertinent" to a closed investigation using investigative steps without re-opening the investigation? Do tell....

I'd expect her first 100 days would start out in county, then she'd head to federal prison, get prison issue and become someone's b****.
