Much of what you read on this board is said "behind the scenes" in basketball circles. I will admit that to see it "out there" can be a little disturbing, but there is typically more "reality" in backstage behavior than onstage behavior. It is a cruel world and professional sports is brutal.

We're never gonna win another championship if you're that cheap, unless you're the Marlins.

codell, from our previous Rudy argument I can tell you're the sentimental type. I am not. I'm a realist. Although I certainly do feel the same things EG may or may not be feeling, that still does not excuse his lack of committment.

First of all his brother's death occurred a year ago and as I've said, many of us lost more than that in that time. In my case my grandmother was closer to me than my mom. The ultimate reason to even have a basketball team (other than the obvious financial implications) is to win games. A 21 year old with no skills, no desire to win, no progress in 3 years and a weed problem doesn't get you very far. Emotional or not, he can't call JVG/CD/Les/whoever and say hey man I need couple days off?

You can say Les is irresponsible with spending his money, but there's no way you can call him cheap....

As someone who is very generous with giving others the benefit of the doubt, I would say the list of reasons for bailing on your team, not returning calls and collecting big$$$ at the same time is mighty short. Age is no excuse. My 12 year old son could do better. That's no exxaggeration.

i don't know that many in this thread are saying that eddie's absence is excusable. if so, i missed them. what i, and some others, are saying is that this is a symptom of a larger problem that needs to be addressed.

610 just reported that they talked to CD and he still has not heard from EG or been able to get any real answer as to where he is or why he has not called. He has only talked to his friends who say it is not basketball related. EG is AWOL.

And what would be wrong with Troy Murphey? He is better than Randolph or Wallace and we don't need Arenas or Parker whom he is arguable better than as well.

Thanks for the update for us out-of-towners. This is really getting strange.

This really is a bad time for Eddie to be going AWOL. We are already down at PF with Taylor.

Whatever the case is with Eddie, this needs to come to a head NOW and be resolved. The last thing we want is this type of incident showing up again late in the season when we need the depth! Nip it in the bud right NOW!

Man, if I did that at my job, my desk would already be cleaned out by now.

I hope he's ok, it's still preseason but not too good for JVG, I just hope its not "recreational". I can't believe we gave up 3 picks for him. IMO, I like Braggs alot, that dude is TOUGHer than MoT and EG combined.

    I like Braggs better anyway.
Eddie is and has been the most uninspired basketball player that I have seen in my whole life....ever.
He is not good, not fun to watch, now is the time to rid our team of him and put in someone that fits.

God bless him and may he work through his troubles, whatever they may be....We have all dealt with death, girlfriend, and family issues. I think his issues are much deeper than we will ever know.
