Why exactly is Bobby Brown so bad? He took on 30.1 USG% in the preseason with a 51.3 EFG%. Compare that to Harden (one of the most efficient guards in the league) who had a 30.9 USG% and a 54.2 EFG%. Maybe Brown just got lucky, but normally as a guard's USG goes up his overall EFG goes down. If the Rockets are looking for a high volume scorer off the bench, he seems totally worth it.
JR except for turning his personal life around and finally acting like a man his age, also turned himself into a good defender. Beasley hasn't. And it's very rare someone that old to suddendly turn from a no D ballhog to a defensive team player. Beasley will have the "label" because he has earned it until he proves against all odds that he has changed his game too.
Not exactly. JR Smith was not a ballstopper but rather a poor IQ player that also takes a high volume of bad shots. Put him in a more controlled environment and his shoot skill will become a contributing factor, because his role is a shooter and he is decent to good on that. Beasley is different, he was never a decent or good shooter. He scoring skill set is purely based on the volume of touches as to jack up as much shots as he can and eventually he will get those numbers. This type of play is toxic to most teams, and plus his basketball IQ, he will take more bad shots you will even seen. While he did not look that bad last year only because the team was even worse, and that doesn't mean he actually contributed.
Rockets should look at that kid Chasson Randle the Knicks waived, he suffered a facial fracture in practice and is going to have to wear a face mask when he returns and the injury was the reason they cut him. Kid can flat out score, reminds me of the Pels Langston Galloway.
I can't even believe people are so upset about Michael Beasley. And I really can't believe anyone went so far as to describe him as the Rockets second best player. 2016 is crazy, man.
That was fast. He was mediocre at best. I would've thought they'd wait and give him a chance but maybe they saw something in practice or maybe other moves coming. Still surprised. I'm also worried this team is too focused on winning this year.
Archi Goodwin just got waived from the Suns please don't keep Brown on the team. He's just useless on real NBA game.
I am sure that is the thinking. When Bev got injured, the Rockets probably had to shift plans. Gordon is now in the starting lineup and that leaves a hole in the backcourt bench scoring department. From the team's perspective Brown fits the bill over Ennis. If Bev doesn't get injured, Ennis might still be here. Situations change and the team adjusts.
Harden being able to get his boy a spot on the roster is not a good look for a organization but it is what it is. If I'm the Rockets though I'm going to eat Pablo's contract before Ennis. Especially if I'm going to keep 32 year old Bobby Brown. Secondly, I think you have to cut Brewer and go get Goodwin. He would be another solid wing defender and a possible shot creator other than Harden.
