Definitely keep Wiltjer. The offense calls for his skillset. He can spot up, catch off the run, post up, and step back. Team defense will aid him while he produces. Nobody else in the question can say that.
I'd personally love to see him make it. 6"10 with such a nice shot is rare. But given the number of contracts we have where we're looking to cut rather than give out more just made me wonder whether he did himself damage that last game.
I'm sure they are not going to base their decision (Wiltjer) on ONE game. Coaches have had Summer League, practices and Preseason to evaluate. Let's just hope they make good decisions.
Fair point, he's old for a rookie, but young to have such a nice shot. Not everyone has that kind of NBA caliber 3 point stroke coming out of the gates.
Again, which guy are you talking about here? The Rox have space get anyone they want between WIltjer, Gp2, Bobby Brown etc. and honestly all these guys are undrafted if the Rockets would get these guys anyway why would they waste a 2nd round pick on Chinanu in the first place? You're basing everything on a few games in preseason, in terms of potential I think Chinanu has just as much or even more potential than any of these guys. Dude is only 19 but was projected to go 2nd round, he has a lot of potential to be at least quality backup which would be worth more than any of these other guys who could get cut since centers always come at a premium. If your mentality is always get players who will help the team currently then that's exactly my point, your team will be full of old ass people after some time like what happened to Dallas you need to reserve some slots for guys who are prospects.
No. just saying he seems like a fan favorite but he also played better than other rookies. Hit 3 or 4 threes and played good D on Anderson.
Keep Wiltjer. Nobody likes Bobby Brown and he could be an option later with we open a roster spot via trade.
Err....why Bobby Brown?! If we are looking for a chucker, we should ask Yao to release Fredette and let him join us.
I actually want to keep Bobby Brown over Prigioni. Gordon and Beverley are likely to be plagued by injuries and I don't think we should count on a 40-year-old to play big minutes. At least from what I've seen Brown is a good spot-up shooter which complements well with Harden and overall he's simply a bigger offensive threat than Prigioni. He might have taken too many shots but that's probably because he was desperate to make the team. I think he's worth a shot.
Nene, Capela, and MonstaTrez are locks at the 5. Anderson and Wiltjer are great stretch 4s. Ariza, Dekker, and Brewer are our weakest position at the 3; DM will surely do something there when he can. Harden, Bev, Gordon, KJ, Prigioni, Brown, Payton, Ennis are overpopulating our 1/2 spots, and are a bit confusing-- I thought D'Antoni needs a strong PnR (Steve Nash) PG, surrounded by shooters, to run his offense. Not sure if any of our 1/2s can do a worthy Steve Nash impersonation. Harden shows flashes, but those TOs-- especially those pocket passes in traffic, sheesh... Wonder if DM/DA are considering Beno Udrih. If not, Prigioni and Ennis are the most PnR-savvy PGs we got. (But Steve Nash not!) I guess Corey is untradeable. Is Les sufficiently rich & eager to win to buy him out? I wish. If ever there was a case of addition by subtraction... Something's gotta happen. Will be refreshing Clutchfans frequently.
