Why would we do something as stupid as that. The Rockets literally have all the leverage in the world. D-Mo is only hurting himself by waiting. The Rockets will just continue life as usual.

October 24 Rosters set for NBA Opening Day So if DMo doesn't sign by Monday, it mean's he won't be eligible to play on opening night no matter what, but how does it work after that? Can we go into season with 14 man roster?
Again folks... watch for the date where he will start to miss his first paycheck... Nov 3rd I believe is the first date for 2016/17 season payments.
Dmo liked Dekker's tweet about being excited about Opening night. He'll sign by Sunday at the latest. Dmo will put his pride to the side at that point.
Yes I believe 12 is the minimum. I think D-Mo could care less about missing a game or two. Its an 82 game season. The question is will he be willing to miss paychecks to hold out and negotiate? I think the play here is to see if teams suffer injuries to their frontcourt in the preseason that forces them to look at D-Mo. However the issue with this still is cap space. Brooklyn looks like the key culprit here, but they have a ton of players to waive first, and I doubt they'd want to invest well over 20 to 25 million per year in Booker, Scola, and D-Mo when they are obviously trying to rebuild. This tough situation kind of makes me confident he'll be back, and the date to where he will miss paychecks will be the cutoff point to come back to the table with Morey and get a deal done.
I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will answer this, but I'm pretty sure you can go into the season with 14, but they charge you the min salary or something in cap space to hold the spot. Pretty sure I remember reading that in one of Bima's cap threads.
