What are some good ones? I just moved here and I went to one a couple of weeks ago, Hunan Emperor, which is on Memorial, down close to Gessner. I'm looking for a good buffet, lots of variety, plus good food, and good Dr. Pepper.... my g/f got Pepsi and I got Dr. Pepper and both tasted horrible. So, does anyone know some good ones?

there's one i like near Memorial City Hospital...can't remember the name right now!!! in the strip center where the Bank of the Southwest is...it's pretty good.

there's one called Tan's that's pretty good down Dairy Ashford, just south of Briar Forest in a strip center with Sweet Mesquite.

my favorite Chinese restaurant in town is Eastern on 34th near Ella..very near Waltrip High School...best hot and sour soup in town...

Dude, I've eaten there tons of times. Little rinky dink restaraunt with a lunch menu with an average price of $4.50. Very good food. As RM95 might say, crack laden.

Gotta go west on Bellaire Blvd. between Gessner and Hwy 6. I only eat Chinese food where Chinese people eat Chinese food. To hell with Fu's Garden!

Shanghai-killer Northern Chinese food. Way different than your run of the mill chow mein place. It is in a shopping mall on Bellaire just west of Gessner.

Santong Snacks-dumpling and soup joint that rocks. Nothing over $5 on the menu, which is on the wall. 8 tables. In a shopping center at Bellaire and Corporate, near Tan Tan.

China Inn Cafe is way west, but worth it. Down I-10 past fry & mason, on the N. side next to Mattress Giant.

China View on I-10 and Wilcrest you might like too. It's in a motel.

I suggest Timmy Chan's Chicken and Fried Rice on Bissonet and 59, across from the late Westwood Mall, now known as "Westwood Tech Center."

There's a great Chinese restaurant in the strip center that houses the Hong Kong Market way out on Bellaire. When you're pulling into the parking lot, it's on the far left hand corner.

Can't remember the name, and its not even a buffet, but the foold was awesome.

If you want buffett, then the best I've had on the west side of town is called Cafe East. It's on highway 6, a few lights south of westheimer.

As mentioned earlier, for Tan's Hunan on Dairy Ashford is really good and cheap at lunch. My favorite chineese in Houston though is on Bellaire, same strip center as Hong Kong Cafe. Not the one in the corner though...this is to the right of that. We just call it 'Cheap Chineese', but I think the real name is Hunan something. Really good food, and the lunches w/soup cost under $3.00.

Tan's Hunan isn't that great. China Cafe is pretty good. I want to check out this Cafe East place. I'm skeptical of a buffet though.

Not really a buffet and barely considered westside, but PF Chang's has some great food. They are a bit pricy, though. They are on the westbound side of Westheimer just inside the loop, right past the railroad tracks.

But for me, nothing beats General Joe's on Bay Area Blvd. (don't laugh at me...I normally prefer Mexican food)
