Great win for the Rockets tonight over Milwaukee, 108-91. This game marks the first time in two years that the Rockets have been 5 games over .500, so things are definitely looking up for H-town! Now that we've got the Eastern Conference down for the count, we need to do the same with the Western Conference. Saturday's game against Dallas will be tough, but it's definitely a winnable game. It'll be interesting seeing Vernon Maxwell in a Maverick uniform! ROCKET ROLL, gang!! ------------------ HOUSTON Rockets forever!!
Thanks jamcracker!! BTW, is anyone else impressed with the near 180-degree turnaround the Rockets have done since Hakeem nearly got traded to Miami? I know I am -- and in such short time as well! Luv it, luv it!! Now let's BEAT DALLAS!! ------------------ HOUSTON Rockets forever!!
What's the team record since the Dream turn around, it would have to be something very SWEET! ------------------ CUT Tino These Heaves are just getting Ridiculous!
nice winnning streak going were 9 of the last 11 , unbeaten against the Eastern Central , Dream has made a huge difference , But will we be on the outside looking in? the truth is The Suns Wolves or Mavs will have to start losing a lot of games , And our schedule really isnt the toughest . ------------------
Moe, Personally i can't see the Mavs cracking they are loaded now and actually have a decent shot at making it past the first round. You never know about the Suns, Kidd can carry them to at least 50% wins the rest of the way but in combination with a Fit Marion and Uncle Cliff and a reasonable schedule they should win at least at least 60% of their remaining games. Our only chance is to keep real hot and hope the Twolves stay reasonably cool, as they have been of late, i think over the last 10 games they are 4-6 and we are 8-2 if both teams keep that up we should make it. But if they recapture the form they had while on that recent 11 game winning streak, it will be a struggle their schedule is certainly tougher than our except any games against the West top 5 are nearly given losses. Who knows one big streak would certainly help, and if we could go the rest of the way without a losing streak we are a good chance. Including the NY game the Rockets are 10-2. All but one of those wins was by ten points or more. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
All Minnesota has to do is lose three in a row, while the Rockets win that many. I'm sure its going to happen. The Rockets are going to beat the Mavs, Hawks, Warriors and Clippers. Aside from the Dallas game, those will all be easy wins. Meanwhile, Minnesota has a much more challenging schedule. I'm sure a losing streak is coming for them very soon. They are a streaky team. They could lose 10 in a row, and win 15. They've had their big winning streak, and they are going down. The Rockets should be in the top 8 by mid-March. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
ZRB -- I think that if the Rockets and T-Wolves finish the season in a tie, the T-Wolves would win the tie-breaker due to best record in the conference. Assuming the Rockets win vs. Minnesota on April 17, the season record vs. Minnesota would be 2-2, which would bring about the conference tiebreaker (if my memory serves me right). The closest we can cut it and still be in the playoff hunt (and Lord know I don't that!) would be for the Rockets to come into the game vs. Minnesota being 1 game back of them. If the Rockets win that game, the Rockets would get in if Dallas beats the T-Wolves the next game. ------------------ HOUSTON Rockets forever!!
I am truly starting to believe after thinking "no way will we go". ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
The Rockets are 2 and a half games back. 3 wins in a row for the Rockets and 3 losses in a row for the Timberwolves would put the Rockets a game ahead. The Rockets can not finish in a tie with Minnesota, they have to have a better record. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Wait wait wait. No one said it has to be in a row. If Minnesota get a 8-7 in their next fifteen games, and the Rox go 11-4, then we'll have 8th place by 1/2 a game. Not to mention, we would EASILY be in contention for 7th. I see the Suns dropping more than the T-wolves. I can see the Rox at 8, Minny at 7, and Suns OUT. Btw, I don't understand what happens if the Rox and T-wolves are tied for 8th, and the season series is tied at 2-2, what happens THEN? ------------------
Upon further research of both teams' schedules, I have come to this conclusion: This will be the two teams' records EXCLUDING the game between them on the Rockets' last day: 46-35 (Starting now, they go 12-11) 46-35 (Starting now, they go 15-8) I've put down Minnesota's record VERY optimistically, cause they play Portland twice, Lakers twice, San Antonio (away) once, Denver (away) once, Utah once, Miami twice, Orlando (away) once, and Seattle twice. Mow, by the looks of it, this is probably the hardest schedule in the entire league. THAT as opposed to: No Lakers, Portland once, Phoenix twice, Sacramento once, Dallas twice, Utah twice, San Antonio once. Oh, and Seattle twice. Don't YOU think the Rox have a pretty damn good chance? ------------------
BTW, Minnesota from this point on plays 4 more road games than home games... They are 21-10 at home, and 13-14 on the road... And the teams they play on the road aren't easy... ------------------ Check out my homepage! Loads of sports pics! http://www.public.asu.edu/~sykim/
Got in a shouting match with a co-worker this morning. Things are a little tense here in Milwaukee the morning after the slaughter. ------------------ Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me...you.
there is definitly an electricity in the air. almost like a playoff atmosphere. i feel good about this team. come playoff time we will be shouting "WE'RE NUMBER 8!, WE'RE NUMBER 8!" GO ROX!! ------------------
Hey Sane hows this for a tough shcedule: Starting March 20th, Portland @ home Sacramento on the road Charlotte @ home Utah, Portland, L.A.Lakers, Sacramento and Houston all on the road. Atlanta and Utah @ home San Antonio and Phoenix on the road Sacramento @ home Seatle and Golden State on the road Minnesota @ home Thats the Mavs schedule from March 20 to the end of the season. Only word I can find to describe that is BRUTAL. I count only 3 games that the Mavs should have no problem winning, 4 games against teams with similar power and 9 games against teams with superior ability. The 8 games leading up to March 20 will not be a cake walk. Startin tonight against Houston they have a lot of good teams to play. I think the Mavs go 9 wins and 15 losses in their last 24 starting tonight against Houston. That will give them a final record of 45 and 37. No play offs for the Mavs again. ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited March 03, 2001).]
