They better start Gordon over Bev for a million reasons! Gordon is a better shooter, a better playmaker, a better driver to the rim. Overall can help Harden on the offensive side of the ball. Bev: A better defender. To compete with the elite teams in the league Gordon def has to start to give you that offensive firepower that will be needed. What do you you think Pringles will do??
I would still start Bev, use Gordon as a real 6th man playing 32 minutes a game. If you start Gordon, you are below average defensively in 3 of the 5 positions (Harden, Gordon and Rhyno). Also, I don't want Harden and/or Gordon chasing around the other all star starting PG's in the West - Curry, Lillard, Westbrook etc. Just takes a lot out of them. Obviously there will be plenty of minutes where they share the court together but for now, I'd still start off with Bev
Bev. Let EG crush second units and give Harden a breather. If we start Gordon our bench scoring gets awfully thin.
Offense stalls a little when Harden is not in the game so having Gordon off the bench as a play maker would to me be the better choice
Most of the starting point guards in the league are very good nowadays (somebow we never have one tho). My point is if Gordon can guard the opposite point guards, of course it's better to start him over Beverly, absolutely agree with your points. If not we can only stick with Beverly to start the game.
Bev to start and end close games where we need to hold a lead. Our defensive late game lineup should be: Bev Harden McDaniels (really hoping he takes that step) Ariza Nene (Trust him more as a savvy vet and more importantly a rebounder in late game situations than Capela) Gordon to get more minutes than Bev and to finish games we need to score. Harden Gordon Ariza Anderson Capela This should be our highest rated offensive lineup.
Bev for sure. Need Gordon to playmake for the second unit. Gordon starting would be far too bad of a defensive unit.
Bev, easy choice. Don't see much difference in Gordon or Bev hitting open shots. Rather have Bev chasing down Paul, Curry, Parker, etc. Gordon is needed for playmaking when Harden is off the floor.
Gordon should play more minutes but come off the bench to get the minutes against the other teams backup PG and be out there when Harden sits. KJ should start when Bevs hurt.
Bev was running the point pretty well so far before his "injury". That said, it is only the preseason, so we will have to see how that develops.
This makes no sense Harden is the PG their gonna want a bigger body to the guard SG spot Also no way you play Gordon 1st squad. We need all the weapons we can get. Sure he would help out the second unit but you gotta make sure your first unit is lethal plus I feel like bev would not benefit from pg to sg wouldn't flow good
Gotta have EG off the bench. Majority of successful teams have a sixth man capable of scoring buckets and/or making plays (Jamal Crawford, Andre Iguadola, Enes Kanter etc.) To use an example from D'Antoni's more successful times - Leandro Barbosa.
Just play to the matchup - if we are playing an elite PG, then Bev gets more time, if the opposing PG can't burn us, then go with Gordon. It's a moot point anyway - Gordon will get hurt like he always does and then the answer is Bev of course - and I say that as being a big Gordon fan since his Clippers days.
If KJ can hit his threes consistently I'd rather him start. But as far as this thread goes, I'd rather Gordon start and be spelled early by bev. Make a trade for Rudy Gay and let him come off the bench as a 3 or small ball 4.
