#1 in 4 categories. #1 or #2 in 6 of the 8 categories. One note: I removed Real Madrid from the rankings.
Who give a crap if it's preseason. Its good to build good habits now. Did you not listen to Harden's post-game press conference comments?
Preseason is not meaningless. It does give a picture of what to expect for the regular season. Last preseason, the Rockets' net rating was -0.6. During the regular season it was -0.2. Top 6 teams in net rating last preseason were: 1. Spurs 2. Warriors 3. Thunder 4. Cavs 5. Clippers 6. Raptors So the fact that the Rockets are at the top of the rankings this preseason is a good sign. That's all I'm saying.
Gotta factor in that we've played the sharks, Knicks, and pelicans. Too small of a sample size and the for the most part the competition is weak.
Lol even when we're playing well some Rocket fans have to hate. I get it's preseason but it's still good to see things clicking.
I will celebrate this like I will celebrate finding a penny on the sidewalk. Technically not useless, but hardly worth stopping to notice.
Well, yes it is only pre-season and let's not get too excited there but I remember last pre-season was a catastrophe and it dragged on to the regular season. So it's a good start!
Whatever this a good start and habits that can benefit the team in regular season. Last year's pre-season was a precursor to what lay ahead so this is go to see the team starting on a good note in the preseason hoping this will lead to a better regular season.
Definitely a positive sign....it's not about wins and losses but how the team plays and so far rockets are playing well.
Agreed but I think he is still just trying to figure out how to hit people right and figure out what works and what doesn't. The first thing I did after the game was look up games where a guy had 15 assists in the past few years. You see Westbrook, Paul...there was a Curry in there and Lebron. Lots of those games had 6-8 TOs to go with those 15 assists. Curry has lots of 10 assist games with 8 TOs. It's just every Harden TO is magnified more than those other guys.
This is definitely a good pre-season and bodes well for the season ahead. Pre-season sets the tone for the season in a lot of cases. Remember the lackadaisical, crap, bullshit pre-season that McFail ran last off season? Guess what? The writing was on the wall at that time. We came out flat, insipid and the results were just an extension of the useless pre-season Mil hair conducted. I'm happy with the preparation for this season. Players ready and hungry, chemistry etc all in contrast to the disaster which was last off season
Great stats, I'm very happy with the team's progress! Some thoughts on the Pelicans game: As noted by others there's still a long way to go. On offense I saw Harden jack up a few ill-advised shots and try to force passes where there was nothing there. Also, I think PG's generally need to be more energetic and quicker to set up the offense because the team takes its cue from the PG. Harden will need to improve in that regard. What I did like was that the team stuck to the system and didn't devolve into chaos when times got tough. The reps they're getting as early as now will help later on. Ryno and Gordon bailed out the offense a couple of times by nailing threes that weren't really that wide open. These guys will improve our offense just by being really good shooters. We didn't have this sort of ability last year outside of Harden. The defense was just bad, sorry to say. I noticed that the Pelicans ran PnR to involve Ryno and exploited his lack of lateral quickness to get into the defense and make plays. Harden and Gordon weren't much better at containing the opposing PG's, particularly Tim Frazier (who's quick as hell to be fair). Without Beverley, we are going to get killed by PG's. McDaniels is going to contribute this year. He just needs to remain confident in his ability to knock down open 3's and to continue cutting all over the place. Very encouraging to see him play this way. Anthony Davis is really really good. xxxxx Go Rockets!
