Ideas needed for meeting with Rockets organization.

    I received a call from a Rockets Representative and she wanted to know if I was interested in attending a "focus group" on Monday or Tuesday. They are having an NBA reprentative(consultant) in town who is basically going to talk to a group of Rockets season ticket holders and get feeback with concern to what it will take for season ticket holders to continue to be season ticket holders. She commented also that no Rockets employees will be present and that there would also be a "free lunch" or dinner depending on what day I chose. She also said that there might be some goodies given away as well.

    He will probably want to hear from us on ideas how things could improve the image of the league and what it would take to get the interest of the fans back up and also what the Rockets could do in improving the relationship with season ticket holders and fans.

    I think this will be a great opportunity to give some feedback that could make an impact in the long run. So what I am asking for everyone is for some ideas, suggestions or questions they might have so that this meeting can be productive.

    I will try and give a re-cap when I get back.

    I am not very adept at searching for old lost threads, but I remember a big thread a while back in the BBS Hangout where people were making suggestions about what could be done to increase fan support. In that thread, some poster who I had never seen post before made about 5 or 6 great suggestions for ways to reward season ticket holders.

    I remember Jeff commented on it at the time. Do you know which thread I am talking about, Jeff? It was the first one, and later you created a new one in which everyone made direct suggestions to the Rockets representatives who read this site.

    Nope, actually I guess it was the second one, Mango. The post I was referring to was by montgo early in the thread. He makes some good recommendations... not as many for season ticket holders as I remembered, but there are some:

    Keep pounding the idea of new uniforms into their heads, and tell them to hire a defensive-minded assistant coach!

    Something that I would like (this isn't really a season-ticket holder kind of thing, but still) is for more ticket promotions. Personally, I can't afford 20, 30, 40 bucks per ticket, but I can do 10. More promotions to create more $10 seats would be cool.

    And for the league in general- tell them to cut down on the TV timeouts. It seems that every third whistle leads to TV timeouts. They ruin the flow of the game, change momentum, and bore the hell out of me- that's
    for sure. I know they need time for commercials, but it seems like they have added a lot of new TV timeouts lately.

    Ask them to lower the decibel level on the music. Each and every time I've been to a game I get blasted by the music and end up with a headache. Maybe it's cause I always sit in the second deck but anyway...
