I already explained it to you. How many different ways do you need to be told how someone is a hypocrite for blasting others for not paying taxes, complaining about the debt, and complaining about taxes on the wealthy when that person doesn't pay any taxes.... ?

Is there a gas leak in your residence.

The ones that can't afford it.

    It's not worth anything.

Yep. Trump was blasting those who don't pay taxes.... When he wasn't paying them. See the issue?

Trump was paying taxes whether he paid income taxes or not. His businesses were generating tax revenue. Businesses do that... no business, no taxes.

I was responding to RL talking about Trump calling Machado fat. Definitely not any kind of policy issue nor a partisan issue, but an indicator about his character.

Trump was referring to income taxes in both of those tweets.

Yes because those are the kind of taxes the majority of the people in this country pay because they don't own businesses. They do however work for businesses which is why they have income to tax. Unless of course they are politicians... those guys are supposed to work for all of us.

Now there is a real issue with Trump, he is a loud mouthed jerk who can't seem to stop saying stupid crap... there is something I can agree with.

the two tweets were about a person or a group of people who would only have "personal" income taxes. Trumps businesses pay taxes and generate taxes whether he pays personal income taxes or not.

Trump complained about what others pay in personal income taxes. He apparently didn't pay personal income taxes for quite a while.

How much simpler can this be stated?

I think a big issue here is how the taxes tie into everything else. Trump is constantly braying, "I'm rich," "I'm rich," "I'm rich", and that he's some kind of genius (his chimps Giuliani and Christie were spouting the same bullet points Sunday morning), but he woefully mismanaged his businesses, stiffed a myriad of contractors who couldn't afford to beat him in court, ripped off students of modest means with Trump University, ran a phony Foundation.....this is the Pied Piper who'll lead us lemmings to the promised land?

We can leave out how he built a base with the long-running birther crap and then tried to cynically flip it onto someone else when someone finally exposed him on TV for it. But, again, that's what he does. "Trump didn't pay federal taxes for 20 years." "That makes me smart." "He's a GENIUS!" If he's such a genius, why hide behind the phony alibi of an audit?

Isn't it time for people to stop buying into his b.s.?

Then why was he blasting Obama for his 20% or whatever rate? I guess when it's 2012 and you aren't running for president it's ok to say such things....

    From earlier in the thread:

To anyone just visiting the thread now, check out the entire thread. Lots of issues raised by lefties already destroyed but they're either being very dense and just ignoring them or are purposely trying to bury them by repeating the same broken arguments.

I agree, but I'm just trying to explain the hypocrisy which okierock couldn't see: guy complains about others doing something while doing that exact same thing himself...it's the definition of hypocrisy.

Why do you keep saying this. Trump's business taxes belong to Trump's businesses. Trump doesn't 'get credit' for corporations' tax performance. That's like saying he owns Microsoft shares and Microsoft pays income taxes. He has his own income taxes to pay (or not pay). I don't have a problem with him rolling over losses to the extent it abides by the letter and spirit of the tax law (something we can't evaluate since he won't release his taxes), but it is unavoidable the hypocrisy of blaming other people for causing the country problems with their tax minimization gambits while he was running one of his own. That he 'contributed to the economy and tax rolls in other ways' doesn't matter. The companies and hedge fund managers he criticized did that too.

Now, I would have given him some credit (begrudgingly and maybe quietly) if he had released his taxes and said, 'Look at how I took advantage of the government. This is what all us rich people do. I'm going to change the tax law so nobody can do this in the future.' That'd have credibility. But, he didn't. He's been dodging the question and refusing to release his tax documents so that he wouldn't have to have the conversation he's having now.

Just remember, when you vote for Trump in November, and you pay your federal income taxes in April, you'll be paying more than him and Clinton will be president.

If you think he's a genius, what does that make you?

The legality isn't the issue, it's the hypocrisy of his debt and taxes platform. If Hillary is the political establishment... what does this make Trump now? Part of the business establishment?
