Video by the great Nick Smith.

Can he win MVP as the Point Guard?
    Good video and insight.
Personally i think he can average 30/10/6 under dantoni

    Points Gawd.

Rockets are going nowhere with Harden as the primary ball handler and distributor. We need someone to take the ball off him and make Harden an off the ball scorer. Someone like errr ummmm Ricky Rubio

Did somebody drug me or did I just see basketballholic compare Ricky Rubio to Scottie Pippen?

I've never seen a poster so obsessed with a player. Nothing compares. Not Carl Herrera's infatuation with Patrick Patterson. Not DaDakota's love for Vassillis Spanoulis. I don't even think the unhealthy obsession with Jeremy Lin so many LoF's had compares. It is just unreal. And dude just isn't that good.

With a team seemingly built around him and provided those players can hit a higher clip than last season which will boost his assist numbers, I say YES to Harden winning MVP.

One game against the Shanghai Sharks, and Harden is back in the MVP hunt.

Except a lot of people have had him pegged for MVP before training camp even started.

Harden already was a point guard at the shooting guard position. Loved the team ball movement today

Harden had a monster season last year and couldn't even get an all NBA nod. Statistically you can't get much better than what Harden has already demonstrated. Defensively he'll need to improve and the national perception of him is going to have to shift for him to be in the conversation. But he is an MVP level player.

He was already the primary ballhandler last year. It's just semantics

Being the media votes... And also MVP apparently is reserved for top teams and not what MVP actually means... It depends how well houston and Adidas campaign it. I think 2 years ago he was more than deserving, hell even last year he played great. The all team snub was just stupid. They really need to have some truly unbiased votes based on metrics and not on hurt feelings by the press not being invited to the top harden parties.

Exactly I really think some of these press guys who vote are full of ****. The all team snub proves how low his stock is atm. It's like the all-star game but worse since they should know better than the fans.

It's like brexit (the all-star game of voting by fans) but worse, you know like when Congress ****s up on a vote. Haha, obviously brexit and Congress etc are more important than the silly nba (at that level), but I can't believe how much emotion plays into votes by the sports press.

Somewhere in between 86-87 Magic and 05-06 Nash.

    24p / 10.5 a / 6 r / 1.7 s / 3.5 tov / 49% fg 39% 3pt 86% FT

In the MVP convo, getting Ws, leading team deep in the playoffs.

Some other factors to possibly go in Harden's favor on this topic:
    * Less media hate given we no longer have Howard.
    * More media love given we brought in a well known coach
    * GSW can't possibly have a season like last year - plus bringing in KD will take votes away from Steph

Regardless of all this, the locker room mess went against him as I'm sure the start of last season, plus the Kardashian stench that followed him.
He probably should've averaged 5-10 more assists per game than he had given all the missed shots. So factor that in.
Don't think he can improve on his scoring, so it's other factors that will count.
And I'm sure with the changes made plus his re-signing, we'll see James be far more of a leader now.
