1 week. 4 losses. Release the hounds!

My gosh. I thought I had seen this bbs jump to conclusions way too early before, but you guys are getting really good.

Soo, ok, Rocket Rich NYC is a Van Gundy hater. Duly noted.

I'm not willing to say that I dislike or don't believe in Van Gundy. However, I think Rudy T is and will always be a better coach . . .

    Not ready to join yet
but i'm getting tired of his constant BAMing in the Media

I too think he is overrated

That 8th place Team he took to the Championship
was not TRUE 8th place team
    The starting line up was
    EWING [with some Miles left]
LARRY FRICKIN JOHNSON [with some miles left]
    HOUSTON
    and SPREEWELL!!!

Come on. At that point that was d*mn Fine team
[I think LJ and Ewing . . .had just come back from injury
at the beginning of the playoffs . . which expains some
    of their seeding]

They Still had Anthony Mason [with some miles left in the tank] too

    Rocket River
Still holding on to hope. . . . but
"BAM BAM BAM BAM" gets old quick

I'm for one am a believer in ROCKET RICH NYC posts. But aren't you worried that he might start locking the door to his office after he hears you've been snooping around.

I'm still part of the JVG fan club for now but that will change if the team doesn't start making strides by the end of the year. I really don't care how the players feel about JVG because he is not here to be anyones buddy, he is hear to coach a team.

hehehe - keep the sig going. I hope I am wrong but my reasons still hold until I see otherwise. He last coached in a man-to-man world where now different zone overages are more efficient and effective (especially for some of our non-d players). Also his offense in NY was below average. 80 points a game was a good game - 70s were average. Of course our iso was getting us nowhere.

I don't hate him - I actually like some of the things he's doing. He's actually coaching and not just letting them play. Again, I would love to be wrong, he is different than Rudy, but I'm not sure we will be a better team because of him.

I want to give him a little chance before i join this club. i will however stick to my belief that he would have made a great assistant coach to Rudy T and only as that.

just one thing Mason did not play for the knicks that year. mason was the person that was traded for LJ. and i think that the team maybe was not an 8 seed, but not much higher, you do have to respect Van gundy for making the finals that year. even though Ewing got injured that play off

Hey dude, this post is counter productive because JVG is used to this kind of reaction from the NY/NJ metro fans and press of the NY KnickerBockers. So do not think you are doing anything significant or noteworthy - just a waste of time IMO. Jeff's regality makes threads and editorials like these trivial.

I will predict that JVG will be a fan icon in Houston Texas and he will win an NBA championship (thanks to Yao, Cutino and Boki) before all is said and done.

Man, The season hasn't started yet & some of you B-ball geniuses want 2 have JVG head on a platter!!;) :p Give the man a chance, but if the ROXS continue 2 sink this year & heaven forbid...next year. then JVG needs 2 be canned! This team 4 many years have been UNderachieving & making A bunch of excuses..i.e: predictable ISOS, dribbling-dribbling out the clock then take wild or desperation shots, bonehead turn-overs, selfish plays, etc, etc. I got 2 wonder if all of these were in the old ROXS' playbook!!! This is the reason why Rudy T was demoted!! It will take some time 2 learn JVG's system & I knew that the moment he was hired.....he isn't about 2 take CRAP from his new players, & I think that's a good thing!!;) So I won't join your club........................just yet;) :)

Why hate anyone its a SIN.JVG is just starting off in a new job, he needs our support, just give him a chance, lets see what he can do before we form an opinion about him! It sounds like you are trying to transplant your NY opinion into Houston before we have had a chance to find out for ourselves.

Relax, everyone! It's a loooong season (that hasn't even started yet) and this team will have some growing pains. JVG is using the ol' "break them down, then build them up" strategy.

I say give it time. At least more than 4 preseason games. Some of you act as if we are already mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Yes, Rudy T's teams were much more competitive in the pre-season. Van Gundy has to go.

The problem with staking out a position like this so early is that anything can happen. If things go well, you will be in the sad position of having predicted failure, being wrong and, thus, being unhappy with the team's success. That would suck.

It can actually get worse with people who are really stubborn. These types are so unwilling to admit that they were wrong that they force themsleves into a position of actually cheering against your own team. In other words, for you to be right, the team must lose. Being right and having your internet BBS reputation intact becomes more important than enjoying the good fortunes of your favorite team.

Is this really where you want to be?

this mob criticism of JVG after four preseason games is like group hysteria. what's wrong with you people? he is showing the team that they must play harder and together. he is coaching for long term results, not trying to win every preseason game by any means necessary. he said:

"It's the hardest thing for a coach to say. It wrenches my gut to say,

    `Right now, we don't play hard.' "

"I can say this," he pledged.

    "We will play hard."

HE IS CHALLENGING THEM. HE IS SAYING: BE A MAN. when we get to the point where we are playing hard, results will follow and everyone can shut the **** up.
