Results of previous RHTQ: In response to the question " Who will lead the Rockets in scoring this year?" 174 out of 283 respondants ( 61.48%) answered Steve Francis, 96 ( 33.92%) said Yao Ming, 9 said Cuttino Mobley (3.18%), and 2 each for current Rocket not named and player yet to be acquired ( 0.71%)

This question asks, simply, come the end of the year, how will the Rockets have done? I gave two options for the middle zone as past history suggests there are two ways to finish in that range, in and out of the playoffs.

Again, as ususal, I remind you that this asks not how you hope we will do, but how you think we will do, and encourage you to explain your choice...and also, please feel free to suggest future RHTQ topics.

So hard for me to say at this point. If Steve is still here, I would have to go with no more than 45 wins, just like last year, and miss the playoffs. There are just too many problems when a black hole is your pg.

I love what I am hearing from Van Gundy so far. They may not set the world on fire at the beginning of the season, but I expect after 40 to 50 games not to many teams are going to want to play them. With a healthy Mo Taylor 50-54 wins sounds about right to me.

A few words that Steve Francis needs to hear: If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.

no more than 34 wins this year...even though it's just the pre-season, you can't play eastern conferance ball in the west and I think the players will buy into JVG's system but it just won't work because we'll play great defense but no offense. Even if yao and steve score 20 points a night, we'll still won't have what it takes...God I hope i'm wrong!

I'm guessing 29 wins, with 20 of those coming in the second half of the season.

    40-44...miss the playoffs.

Yao will be the savior. He plays smart, and if he plays enough, we may win more and may make the playoffs. I'm beginning to lose faith in the other people out there on the court.

The Spers play EC ball, and they won the title. I say 45-50 wins, especially if the team can dominate the East like it did in 2000-2001.

I have been saying it ever since we signed JVG. I've posted this same prediction probably five times now.

50 WINS GUARANTEED AND JVG IS LEADING US TO THE SECOND ROUND!

If Steve aand Cat sign onto JVGs plan then 50-53 wins. If there is deliberate resistance to JVGs plan or the way he needs things to be done then 40-42 wins.

    45-49 wins...MAKE PLAYOFFS!

We have more talent than most teams.
    Blazers...we are about even.
Sonics...they have a better starting lineup but our bench is deeper.
Hornets...we have more talent. Francis = Davis...depends on who is having a better day. Mobley > Wesley or Alexander. Jackson < Mashburn..but can probably hold him a while. Griffin = PJ Brown.Yao > Magloirre. Our bench is a bit better than theirs too.

We have more talent than a lot of teams...besides Lakers, Timberwolves, Mavericks, Spurs, and Kings.

We just need to learn the system and play harder and improve our defense. Make shots. EXECUTE!! They have to develop as a team...they can do it.

Remember..."The preseason is normally around 30 days with few days off. Serious practices are the rule even on the day of the exhibition games. In the first week of the pre season some coaches will frequently have a 40 to 60 minute "skull session" which is held separate from the practices with the aim of trying to bring all of the players, especially the new members of the team, in to a more harmonious understanding of the coaches’ philosophy and plans for the season." Our guys are having 2 and a half hour practices even on game days...IT'S PRESEASON!

I have to believe that this team is playoff worthy this year.

Gundy is a quality coach and already he has demanded nothing less then excellence from this Rocket team. The coach has made it clear he is a dictator and teacher not a best friend who will hold your hands when times are tough. Instead Gundy has made it clear this team isn't performing up to his expectations. His attitude will be the driving force and the catalyst for why this team will be in the playoffs this year. I am so sure of this.

WE ARE NOW just starting to see which players can perform under pressure and what their true capabilities are as individual players and as a team player. Lets see who the real students of the game are on this team.

Geez, this board is way too inconsistent. A couple weeks ago, people were predicting 5th and 6th seeds, now it's all gloom and doom. The second the Rockets get a two game winning streak, it'll be NBA championship time on clutchcity.net...

Glad to have you back, ZRB! There was some guy running around here for a while that had a positive attitude that was pretending to be you. :D

    I picked 40-44...

Although not as tongue and cheek as ZRB hopefully is, I think there are going to be some serious growing pains with Van Gundy. NEEDED growing pains, but I anticipate some losing to start the season.

It's just like changing your shot, learning a different way to bowl, or altering your golf swing. If any of you have ever done it you know that there are a lot of really bad games before you start shooting nice rainbows, break 200 for the first time, and start getting par every once in a while...

    i agree

    this team looks very weak

Stevie and Cat being selfish and stubborn will result in this team imploding unless things change in a hurry.
