Backtrack my posterior region..thats a complete freaking 180.. I would lay odds that Yetti hasnt made a post in the last year that didnt at some point talk about how selfish our guards are. about how the are in the way of the Big Man's Game by NOT PASSING TO YAO. that is in almost every single post I have ever read from him. Of course, I might have missed one since sometimes I zoom over the Snowman's posts. It occurs to me at this point that djunior is nothing more than a common troll, make an inflammatory post and never come back to respond...he;s just sitting out there laughing at everyone flaming him. Please, please, please admins...lock this puppy.
I am not the only one seeing the problem with Cat! I don't have time to explain to ignorant foul mouth like you. Go do some research yourself.
Hehe... one of the priorities, according to Van Gundy after taking over the coaching job is to have the guards setting up comfortable zones for Yao. This means the 2 fast-gun one-on-one combo, Stevie & Cat didn't do a good job last season. You've just picked the wrong person to blame on the low assist as result of poor shooting. Hehe..., shooting from the field at 50% (over 13 points & 8 boards) for a first year foreign rookie was a respectable number. You should be focusing on the overall performance and not to pick out a specific portion to start creating cheap reasoning. On the contrary, Stevie & Cat whose combined shooting % were in the lower 40s, and they they took most of the team's shots too. And I dare to mention your dare sweet PF Eddie Griffin for 2 straight years shooting under 40% baby. Hehe...shooting at such poor percentages is the actual result of low assists, let alone other things like the bad positioning, lousy ball excution, careless shots, fast gun. Van Gundy is a smart guy as he realizes the need for the guards to make changes in creating comfort position for other teammates.
Not really, there is some truth to what these people are saying. How can we change our back court's mentality?... Slap the crap out of them when they stink up the joint... They had a lot of time to screw up and we dont want to go through that any more. They have to take us to the playoffs or they will be on the first thing smokin' to another team.
Nice try DJ but Yao's shooting down the stretch sucked so bad that he went below 50% for the year. My point is that Yetti's argument, that mobley and francis do pass enough just don't get enough assists, is directly traceable to the inadequate shooting of their teammates, which, in the second half of the season, included yao.
please dont uses fg% comparing a gaurd and a center!!!!!!!! Shows how much you know about basketball! Tell me how many gaurds make 50% of their shots, and how many centers make 50% of their shots.
Dudes... Franchise and the Cat will get us to the playoffs with the Yao-za. THIS YEAR. But we will get crushed by the Lakers. Have ya'll seen the way they play with Malone and Payton? Sick. Found this crazy site while looking for NBA Live 2004. http://www.tgpump.com The testimonials are hilarious!!! And the proggy is pretty crazy too. What is VINCE CARTER doing on the cover of NBA Live for the XBOX???? Does that guy still play hoops?
No playoff for the Rockets this year. The same old "habits" and "attitudes" haven't changed a whole lot; too obvious.
and which quote would you be referring to? I saw a quote thast said the entire team is stinking it up and not getting the job done. I also saw a quote saying that the lineup he put in that played with the most heart and passion was the one with 3 guards(SF,Mooch,Wilks) and to SamFisher.. the pass/assist argument that you attribute to Yetti is the first time it has been issued from him ever. that was a flagrant backtrack inspired from codell proving that SF/Cat do in fact passs to Yao plenty of times. In the past Yetti has ALWAYS insinuated that our "selfish" guards never pass to Yao. how I wish I had search to look up all the times he has said that. and in all those posts he has never said that he meant assists and not passes.
Hahaha... Yetti you are pitiful... you had no response to my post (because you know that I am telling the truth) and the best reponse that you can come up with (FIVE DAYS LATER) is a misinterpeted JVG quote. Tell me, how does what JVG said about Francis have anything to do with him not passing Yao the ball. From what I read Van Gundy was simply stating that Francis tries to hard by trying to go for the home run everytime down. The home run may not always be shooting the rock by the way. It could also be attempting to make a pass that was to difficult, taking to long to read and/or over analyzing the defense and missing an easier opportunity. In no way does JVG's comments back your previous lies that Francis and Mobley are selfish ball players who don't pass the ball to Yao. Besides didn't you already backtrack (or excuse me "clarify") and state that they do pass to Yao... just not for assists? What a crock... maybe if Yao would get more aggressive and start leaning into contact instead of taking that crappy fade away lay-up he would stop blowing point blank shots, for as you know you don't get the assist if they miss...
I don't know how you can misread Jeff: What do you think Jeff say aboout shaking someboby and not playing team offense? Why did Steve have to defend his action if he was playing team ball? BTW, it is not just Yao. It never was. You made it into Steve vs. Yao. It is just Steve the 1-1 player vs Steve the point guard!
I see that you've only been around the board for less than a year 'Fire so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and not call your statement about "me making it Steve vs. Yao" assinine. The board became this way when Yao fans came here and for some reason felt threatened by the teams best player (Steve Francis) and started making unfair and completely untrue statement regarding Steve. I did not start that. If you are refering to me making it Steve vs. Yao in this thread, I didn't start that either, the author of this thread did and posters like Yetti and yourself just picked it up. As far as JVG's comments go, the first quote in bold clarifies it. How could you misread what's in black and white... He singled out Francis for attempting to hit to many home runs and then said THE TEAM botches plays... the team. He also said they routinely do this, meaning not just tonights game. This could be a player not picking on the correct side, or not being where he was supposed to be on the floor, a cutter not cutting, the ball not going where it was supposed go when it was supposed to go there. Steve is just one player not THE TEAM. By the way, aren't you same same person who critisized Codell for using or believing in a Jeff Van Gundy quote. Didn't you post this earlier... Yup... I thought that was you. My, my how opinions change. I guess quoting JVG is suitable for you 'Fire when you THINK he agrees with your Steve bashing propoganda...
I am glad somebody remembers that FINALLY that Steve and Cat didn't want Yao in the beginning. They wanted to fish in the Clippers tank and take some of their players, (no offense to MoTaylor). They were quite threatened and still are of someone stealing their thunder, less so now because they know the Pressure Is on Seriously for them to WIN and Win NOW (a playoff spot 6-8th.) Les And Everyone is not going to take excuses anymore about nothing...and I think should Cat realizes he will be the first big name to go on the trading block since he has actual value. If he's smart he'll play the GAME the way its meant to. The way JVG intends to, passing, setting up big-men, running fastbreaks like a real nba team not a middle school one. Steve has much more lee-way than he does. People will tolerate Steve's antics, going no#1 for your team affords you that, Cat doens't have that option. Jeff has options too at guard, I don't see him being "afraid" to make tuff decisions in benching anybody from starting if they don't or refuse to work the system, so if Cat thinks he couldn't come off the bench, THINK AGAIN. I like some of the pre-season guys, and Piakoski can shoot just as good or better than Cat, so If I were him I be working on my chest and post entry passes. . .As for Steve- he just needs to do what we've always said STOP dribbling. They think if they pass one time to the post and its not there, its never there??? Oh well guess I'll just JACK SOMETHING UP HERE. . .
I look at everything Jeff says and try to understand when he tells you the truth and when he is being diplomatic. How do you know when is when? If what he says is consistent, if it's the same idea expressed over and over, or that he follows it with an action. I will then take the quote as his true feelings. An example I used before: Jeff said "The team was not undercoached last year" , then he saw fit to tell MoT to move his toes 2 inches over in practice. If they were not undercoached, how come they did not know the simplest thing as positioning? You can argue that there was no need to teach MoT that, but that is another argument. According to Jeff, it needs to be told, and it was not, or it has not been learned ! There are several threads that talk about Jeff's comment on Steve. If you don't see that Jeff was bashing Steve then it is really hard to discuss.
the Grass Rooting Standard of Rating key players: A: making NBA final B: making NBA west/east final C: making second run play-off D: making first run play-off E: not making play-off Index: minor/plus(major win or lose) years in NBA So: Steve Francis: E---- CAT: E---- Mike Jordan:A+++++ Shaq: A+++ Yao: start rating in 2nd yr
Wouldn't want this thread to be forgotten since so many of you who were misinterpreting JVG's comments in the previous article now have egg on your face... His latest comments seem to go completely against what some of you Francis haters claimed he was saying. Calling all Francis haters (especially Yetti and RagingFire). C'mon, it's time to see how strong your character is and if you can admit you were wrong in this case regarding Mr. Van Gundy's statements.
I don't know how you could misread him either... but you would be better able to answer that question than me...
