He sounds AWFUL on TV, and I bet he even sounded worse in the building itself.

What happened with Mario Nani... can anybody answer this? (Tim?).

Regardless... it definitly sounds like an amateur doing the PA. Hell... get the guy who does the Astros games (his voice sounds like what the "voice of God" would sound like... according to some page2 ESPN article on MMP).

Someone said he was the T-grey dude from 97.9 the box. Man soo many personnel changes including Cynthia Cooper for Lisa Malosky. One thing though, these changes kind of suck. Petition for Mario Nani and Lisa Malosky guys!

Yes the PA announcer did suck. To me, it sounded like I was at a high school game or something. Loved the other dude from the Compaq Center, he had a great voice and just got used to it I guess.

I went to the game Sunday, and the guy working as the announcer was horrible. As the article in the Chronicle put it, it was like a cheerleader took over the announcing duties.

The guy was unintelligible half of the time because he mumbled. In the middle of plays, he would say things like, "Come on 6th Man! Defense!" Completely unprofessional in my opinion.

I really hope this guy was just filling in until the usual announcer could make it in. If not, the Rockets are going to have some very annoyed fans.

    Tim:

Is a cheerleading pa announcer really necessary? That reeks of high school or small college and not a professional basketball team. That may work for the Comets but I don't think it will work in the NBA.

Remember when you compared the Rockets "no Houston" jersey to those of the Lakers and Celtics. Well, do THEY have cheerleading pa announcers? I doubt it.

Maybe the previous guy's contract ran out and in keeping with the summer's theme Les didn't want to pay him market value.

Is it me or does the Rockets always have to mess up something that seems to be working fine?

The Rockets Intro Music, PA Announcer, Turbo w/ his high-flying dunks, etc. to name a few....

Dang and I didn't even get a call for an audition.

    It's a little frustrating.

That was the first game I was forced to watch with the mute button on. whats up with trying so hard to get the crowd to chant DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE every single freaking possession from the first quarter onward. Its damn silly and ridiculous. Fans know when to chant DEFENSE- DEFENSE - the fourth quarter of a close ball game, not EVERY DAMN POSSESSION when its forced down thier throats by some butt fluffer pa announcer saying " wooo weee lets go 6th man, c'mon chant with me DEFENSE-DEFENSE- DEFENSE".

and whats up with a the music constantly blaring over the PA during th game? I amazed that the NBA allows that stupid ****. Who are these idiots who are responsible for these never-ending sound effects and playing of music during the game? This Brave New World of Basketball with sound effects and music is making a mockery of the game.

Tim... seriously... tell us this guy is not the permanent guy.

I don't care if this guy even has the "voice of god" (which he absolutely doesn't)

Please get somebody experienced... what's the point of having a new arena if the atmosphere will be ruined by a no-talent / 2-bit announcer who's never worked a big arena game before.

Yeah, the guy was annoying. He was practically begging people to participate.

I must say the Toyota Center is very nice. The video screens and message boards are awesome. The seats are more roomy. I was very impressed with the building it self. A good 5 dollar place to park is over by George R Brown for those of you that don't want to pay 10-20 bucks to park. The food is good but expensive though and pretty much a bunch of generic vendors. I liked the Pappas type offerings the Compact Center had.

The food was too high and the service sucked....seriously. The PA anouncer wasn't that bad. I would prefer the "old" guy though.

I actually liked the PA guy  Maybe he could turn down the "cheerleading" but his voice is good (note: I watched on TV could be different in person).

I agree Cooper has got to go. It's painful to watch. Where's Bullard?

I think Cooper was just "AWESOME." She did some "AWESOME" interviews and provided some "AWESOME" commentary. I would have to say that she did an overall "AWESOME" job.

I agree...I didn't think he was all that bad. Maybe some of you are looking TOO much into it. He can chill with that "6th man" mess.

I was watching on T.V. and I actually got a little embarrassed every time the P.A. guy would speak. It could be because I was so used to the last guy....I don't know. I may start liking him more as time goes on.

What was the players introduction like?

I have to agree - I was joking with a friend that it sounded like a high school kid doing the announcing.

    Very lame.
