I think my favorite "concert" was seeing the Dillinger Escape Plan, Candiria and Isis absolutely destroy Fitzgerald's about 4 years ago. Right after Dillinger's "Calculating Infinty" came out. If you've heard of these bands, you know what I'm talking about. As far as stuff other people might have actually seen, I'd have to rank Pantera pretty high. Just seeing the entire badass contigent of the city of Dallas drunkenly destroying themselves to the soundtrack to a deadly beating is an awesome experience. Metallica and Iron Maiden put on very good giant shows. Lots of cools props in Maiden's shows. I remember really liking a Rush concert I went to as a kid, too. Probably the scariest show I've ever seen was Slayer's. And oh crap, how could I forget about Meshuggah? I watched them on two consecutive nights in Dallas and OKC. Just brutal with the openers, Strapping Young Lad, helping make it one the heaviest tours ever. Then there was the time Botch played at dorm at UH... so many good memories... What about you?
I have yet to go to a really good concert......but I have seen decent concerts from Wu Tang Clan, Janet Jackson, The Roots, and Coldplay(probably the best out of them all). Cod
I can already tell you that both you and I are going to be embarrassed by my responses. I'm not particularly proud of either, but I can't deny the cold, hard truth staring me in the face. Having been warned, continue if you must... Best concerts I've been to: 1. The Jacksons - Victory Tour 2. Rush - Test For Echo Tour
1. Billy Idol - Rebel Yell Tour - Astroworld 1984. (I was fourteen and it was before the amphitheater was built). ****in' Rockin'! 2. Beastie Boys - Unicorn 1992. That entire place went nuts. Wow.
Weird Al Yankovic August 12th this year at verizon wireless. I haven't been to many concerts, but his was awesome.
Frank Zappa at Hofheinz Pavilion '75 or '76 Neil Young and Crazy Horse at The Summit 1991 Patti Smith at the Backyard in Austin 2 or 3 years ago
there is NOTHING wrong with having Rush as one of the best concerts...they are incredible live and have been kicking butt for over 25 years.. I saw Rush last summer from the 5th row and it was great..
I have been to two concerts, a Korn concert and a Blink-182 concert, the blink concert was better because New Found Glory was a kick ass show and they opened for blink. Would really like to see DMB in concert, heard those are great concerts.
Best concert I've ever seen was DMB in Central Park -- FANTASTIC!!!!! I wasn't there though -- watched it on the internet. DVD will be out in Nov. Anyone with even a passing interest in DMB absolutely has to get it. Then it'd be: DMB -- 7/15/01 in Dallas then all the other DMB shows after that But of nDMB: It's hard to really say -- I've seen so many GREAT performances . . . I *LOVED* David Gray's performance here in Houston this year. Everything I saw at Austin City Limits was great -- I think I liked Robert Randolph and the Family band the best, but NickelCreek is a CLOSE second. A great performance by a relatively unknown band was New Monsoon at the Last Concert Cafe earlier this year. Anyone who is into jam bands HAS to check them out -- SPECTACULAR!!! They'll be back in town at the LCC on Halloween. I'm undecided if I'm going or not, but I think I will. Should be as great as their last show here.
CKY Ozzfest 2002 was good minus Tommy Lee System of a Down always riles the crowd up Drowning pool was good Korn and Disturbed were good too I havent seen any outstanding concerts in a while though.
I got 2 very different answers: (#1) Tim McGraw at last year's rodeo. The most impressive girl-to-guy ratio I've ever had the pleasure to take part of. (#2) DMX with the Ruff Ryder camp in 2000. Best performer in hip hop. He gives his all to the audience every show and sounds exactly like his records. It was a crazy show.
Pearl Jam - before the Alive Tour in europe - in a bar in front of 80 people. Unbelievable. Danzig - How the gods kill tour / Support: white zombie John Spencer Blues Explosion - Orange Tour, supported by R.L. Burnside Beck - Odelay Tour Gang Starr / Jeru the Damaja - Moment of Truth Tour Kyuss - Sky Valley tour - damn that one rocked Gorilla Biscuits - Start today tour
Bruce Springsteen, December 1978, The Summit. "Darkness on the Edge of Town" Tour. Played from 8-10PM, took a half hour break, and played from 10:30PM until 1:30 AM. 20 Encores. The Summit staff turned all of the house lights on at 1:00 AM to try to get Springsteen off the stage, and he still played for another half hour. Best. Concert. Ever.
