Rockets have not picked up the fourth year option on Eddie Griffin as yet. Apparently they are either apprehensive about his growth or are quietly shopping him. NY loves Eddie and his upside and if they decide to get younger they may yield to this trade:

    Houston trades
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)

    Houston receives
    C Kurt Thomas (14.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.8 minutes)

Change in team outlook: +1.1 ppg, 0.0 rpg, and -1.5 apg.

    New York trades
    C Kurt Thomas (14.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.8 minutes)

    New York receives
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg )
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 77 games)

Change in team outlook: -1.1 ppg, 0.0 rpg, and +1.5 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

The Knicks would not laugh at it, they would be all over it. The Knicks are a rebuilding team and they would love a young player with a lot of potential like Griffin. I'm pretty sure that Kurt Thomas does not fit into the Knicks long term plans.

That is my thinking 2. I think Eddie would be a core guy for the rebuilding knicks and Kurt thomas would definitely help the current buch of Rockets. I think it would be a good and fair deal for both sides.

Well, Sanyalucknow, was it not you that drew out the Rice trade more or less...so I give this more weight than usual trade proposals.

Anyway, I think I would not do it...I still expect Griffin to break out at some point and I cannot really stand Kurt Thomas.

However, with your history here, I would not be surprised if it happened...

Nah....I wouldn't do this trade. The Kurt Thomas acqusition seems inviting, but we haven't seen what type of player Eddie is under JVG.

I agree that Eddie Griffin could be a star player in the future, but Kurt thomas will provide instantaneous help and is reasonably priced. With him in the line up we will be a muck better team.

the rox will pick up the option on EG.

If they are shopping him teams wanting him would want that extra year on his contract.

Even if they are apprehensive about his "growth", he's still a relatively cheap big man. The only way they don't take that option is

    a) he is a severe locker-room cancer(haven't seen anything hinting at this)
    b) they think they can get him for cheaper when he is an urestricted fa(not gonna happen)

I wish NY would do that.

The team acquiring him will obviously pick up his option.

The Knicks have Lampe and Sweetney at the 4.They don't need Eddie Griffin and certainly not Moochie. They like Kurt Thomas as well who can play at the 4 and as a 5. I want to give Eddie a chance but I would probably make the trade.

    excellent trade sanjay,

but the rocks aren't bold enough to do it...

kurt thomas will bang and rebound and does not require the ball, bulkier and than eddie and tallker...

perfect trade while getting rid of moochie...

we still have yao, cat and wink to score...

perfect, but rocks dont have the rocks to do it...

I'm pretty sure Eddie is taller. Also, have a look at Kurt Thomas' stats his first few years in the league (actually, all years until the year before last year or so). The one thing I have no real confidence in is Eddie's shot. If that was better, I think it would be a no-brainer against this trade.

I would definately NOT do the trade, we havent seen Eddies potential, but what Kurt shows out there is his best, thats the best hes been doing for 2-3 years, eddie will impove just give him a chance ;)

Exactly. They need a banger real bad. Eddie can not bang with the P.F. of west- Duncan/Webber/K.G./Rashid Wallace/Elton Brand/Nowitzki/Amare Stoudamiere/Pau Gasol/Karl Malone on a nightly basis. Thomas/Mo T combo will also not be able to hold their own, but they can definitely slow them down and minimize their advantage. We will be a lot better tim instantaneously.

Griffin has comparable stats in only his second year in the league, it's Kurt's 8th or 9th?

Griffin still has some room to grow under Van Gundy, I don't think we should be trading him for older players.

More or less? Alot less IMO - He had us netting Harpring.

I doubt the Knicks do anything with Thomas until the McDyess issue is finalized. And IMO there would be better offers for Thomas.

I believe you're thinking of MGCMLCICXwhatever.

sanjay proposed the deal pretty much as it went down, cept he didn't throw in the drew obligation and our 2nd rounder.
