You might be surprised. Rasmus has a great track record of being clutch, especially late in seasons. His 3-year OPS ('13-'15) in September is .980. His .864 last season actually lowered that number. His postseason OPS ('09 and '15) is 1.323 and 1.760. His God-awful BB/K even turns BB> in the playoffs.

Would be great having him in the lineup for this final push.

Rangers and Cubs both 6-4 last 10

    Indians 4-6 last 10

All are good teams, but it isn't like any of them are on this great tear right now

The Cubs have been unlucky. Don't expect that to continue. We've also been resting pitchers. Will be interesting to see if we go to a 6 man rotation because then you might end up with an AAA pitcher once in the series.

Not to mention, half the games are against a team we 1) have been swept by, multiple times, this season and 2) haven't won (or split) a series against in nearly a season and a half.

    Yeah..... that deserves mention.

    This lineup is terrible.

    How long is Rasmus' leash?

Good problem to have; too many hot hitters. To my mind, Gurriel (along with Bregman, obviously) should play every single day.

I don't even care about Rasmus. I am talking about Gattis being in at DH against RHP (combination set up for disaster with Castro catching) as well as Marwin being in there for Reed.

    Why isn't Gurriel hitting?

You think Gonzalez instead of Reed is a bad thing?

do we really have the luxury to rest someone as expensive and hot-hitting as Gurriel?

Altuve, Correa, Springer, Bregman and Gurriel should be in the lineup some how some way every night and the others get in when they can. Hinch is too damn loyal and it holds the team back. Rasmus should not come back and take the place of any of the above 5 players in the lineup. These games are too important going down the stretch for this foolishness!

He had a tweaked hamstring. They probably don't want him playing every day until it is more healed.

Yes. Even if we weren't trying to develop Reed, Marwin is still bad against RHP.

Cause hinch is an idiot. Sit the hot hand and replace him with a slumping, just coming off an 'injury' rasmus, who is blackmailing him with nude photos or something.

 Yes, the Cubs have ran into "bad luck".

No one is going to buy that, the Cubs are an elite team but no one is going to buy they ran into bad luck.

They swept the Brewers, lost 2 of 3 to the Rockies, swept the Padres, lost 2 out of 3 to the Dodgers and won the first game of the series against the Pirates in extra innings.

I don't know if the Cubs intend to rest their pitchers going forward, but they have been sending their 5 starting pitchers out regularly and they have reached close to 100 pitches unless pulled for being ineffective (Hammel/Arrieta).

Yeah. I'd like Rasmus to get a number of games. If they're convinced his massive slump was due to the ear issue, and that issue is fixed, I'd like to see what he can do as long as the team is winning series.

Agree that I'd like to see Gurriel in ~5/7 games or so at least (1 day off is expected, potentially 1 more for hamstring issue / limp continuing)

    Rasmus 4-8 against Graveman
    Marwin 4-11 against Graven

I agree that Gurriel should be in the lineup (if he's fully healthy, which he's not), but I'd hit him for Gattis over these other two. If Rasmus is healthy, he does have to play at some point.
