After seeing his on-court and sideline bravado the last four years, I'm prepared to support Houston trading Steve Francis. Francis may be a great individual player, but he does not make his teammates better. Despite his saying to the contrary, I believe Francis is consumed with individual statistics and glory; his relationship with Mobley and Norris creates a divisive under-tone on the team; and frankly, Francis hasn't done anything in the league to warrant his status as a leader of any team.

I would also support trading Mobley because he's seem incapable of playing within the team concept...and he's not good enough to play a one-on-one game.

Finally, Norris is an under-sized PG with an incosistent perimeter game, unreliable penetration game, and is a below-average floor leader.

    ...

The signing of Piatkowski was a move in the right direction. Houston needs more intelligent, team players:

    Brent Barry
    Doug Christie
    Peter Cornell
    Michael Finley
    Brian Grant
    Jason Kidd
    Shawn Marion
    Chris Mihm
    Brad Miller
    Troy Murphy
    Dirk Nowitzki
    Rasheed Wallace
    Jason Williams

What can an All-Star caliber PG, above-average SG, Norris, Amaechi, and a trade exeption get Houston? Hopefully, an All-Star caliber PG, SG, and PF.

Just send Moochie out to take on the Parthians, and it will all work itself out...

This was a fear that I think was easily dipelled last year. Now, I think the more interesting thought is how interested SF is in staying here.

I expect him to knock that one on the head too.

    Francis is not going anywhere!!!!!!!!

Stop with these stupid threads saying you want to trade him! When it all comes down to it, nobody cares what any of us want to see. When it's your team (which it never will be) then you can do whatever you want, but STEVE FRANCIS IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!!!!! Get it through your heads! Or at least come up with a thread idea that we haven't seen 10 billion times!!!

It's true- Stevie Franchise is not going anywhere. If he was, he would have been traded last year when the league still thought he was all-star caliber. Le$ will keep him and any name he thinks will garner press, prestige and $ at this new stadium. No way willhe "dismantle" the team right now and rick being accused of casing in on his new cash cow, the Toyota Center. Expect him to chinch us in other ways, despite the addition of a smart coach to replace the fired (retired) Rudy T. I believe we're stuck with Stevie Franchise possibly until the end of his career, so we might as well deal with it and figure out who we can get to actually lead this team by using a brain. Maybe Van Gundy? Long shot, but a start. It would be good to break up Franchise and Cuttino to break the cycle and Moochie Norris is late for his eviction. I ask again, why was he signed to a long-term deal when he has always been a marginal NBA caliber player? It will be interesting to see what happens this year and if the Rockets will finally acknowledge that Stevie Franchise is not going to "lead" us to a championship (or even the playoffs?!) but will have to be a role player in a TEAM that makes the playoffs and can actually win on a consistent basis. Let's hope Yao can take he best of what he learns playing basketball year-round and not fall into the bad habits of today's young NBA stars.

I haven't watched tonight's game...but to me, he looks excited. He's a good guy. He's an awesome player. Only 3 assists according to statistics..maybe 4..that's not too good...in 30 minutes. BUT STATISTICS DON'T MATTER! He could have gotten much more assists but his teammates couldn't finish. Stats don't matter...our offense is not built to have 30 assists. Of course...we want at least 20 assists per game.
I wouldn't mind trading Mobley though.
ONLY IF WE GET GOOD STUFF IN RETURN.
You are too negative...wait at least until the season starts and we lose like 3 in a row.
    Patience...
But please don't let Moochie play anymore!!
Only person I would trade Francis is for someone named TD, KG, SO, AI, or DN. Maybe VC.

Francis and Yao our core. Surround them with shooters and defenders. It would be nice to find guys who can shoot and make shots consistently and are good defenders as well. Yao and Francis. Mobley's good for now...Griffin is improving...our small forward position...Jackson needs to find his niche and try to find a consistent shooting form where he can make shots...Piatkowski should get some playing time. Our offense is good enough if everyone makes their shots. Just improve our defense...and we should be fine!

a role player???? im sorry but are you talking about the steve francis?? Your ideas are contridicting to popular belief. Francis's talent is considered top 10 in the nba. SAying that he is a role player is absurd!!!!!!!!!!

I know he's done OK in a couple of preseason appearances, but isn't the term "player" used loosely in reference to Pete Cornell.

And, Wallace and Williams, yeah there are two examples of there is no "we" in team.

Last I checked the score is determined by how many balls go in the hole, not the cumulative IQ of the team. I'll take good players thank you. Which, of course excludes Norris.

I'd think CD had gone insane.

There is a very short list of players that would be reasonable to trade Steve for.

However, until you have a full season of seeing how well he can play with Yao (passing the ball in, getting it back, not being double-teamed all the time like the last three years), I wouldn't even think of moving him.

Can we go ONE DAY without someone starting a thread advocating trading Mobley and/or Francis? Can people be positive and happy and have fun? The Rockets are poised to have a big year, the vast majority of people are picking us to go the playoffs, some say as high as a #5 or #6 seed. Yet we have threads with people wanting to trade Mobley or Francis. Mobley commented on Kobe, he's a glory hog and supports Kobe. I don't like Francis on court demeanor, trade him. Why wait for a new coach to groom the young players, lets just ship them out because I read an article or saw them on T.V. and didn't like what they said or did. Francis isn't going anywhere. And the same people begging to trade Francis and Mobley will suddenly change their tunes when the Rocks make the playoffs. But until then I guess we'll have to endure countless "trade Francis and Mobley" threads.

So who exactly on this list has won a championshiop ring? Maybe one that i don't notice. Anyways i guess this also means that none of the player you listed make their team better either. We should probably trade Stevie for Fisher or Horry. They seem to make the people around them better.
