In the GARM we have Ricky Rubio BS, in here we have people pimping out garbage QB's like Brian Hoyer and pining over 2nd string guys like Savage. I guess it's just how it goes, ever forum needs something stupid.

You are able to classify as uneven from only 3 series?

The 3 series and training camp have been uneven so far. I'm not making a prediction for the whole thing

Savage has shown nothing but an inability to remain healthy.

Brock needs to move the ball today plain and simple. 3 series is enough to get his feet wet and shake off some of the expected nerves. Assuming he plays a whole quarter and considering we're at home maybe BOB will open up the playbook a little so we can see a TD from him.

I think you have to look at it from the perspective that Brock is coming into a new system and literally trying to get the right plays in at this point where as Savage is in his third year in the same system so he is just going out there and playing... These are guys preparing for two completely different things so in preseason games they will be emphasizing different things with each guy.

are you sure? Judging brock from 1 qtr in a meaningless preseason game just seems more logical.

this team might have like 9 new starters on offense, they need to play together in preseason more than other teams

    Nope.

There's too much logic involved in that thought.

I rewatched the preseason game on NFL network during the week. Here's what I got out of it:

    - the whole TV crew including the cameras and the play by play was so much better. They knew so much more about the 49er players than the Houston crew knew about the Texans players.
    - Lamar Miller looked just as good. Played very inspired and had a burst. He might be the cure to their slow starts.
    - Broxk didn't look as bad. He was playing safe and a lot of checks downs. Probably because
    - the offensive line looked bad.l in pass protection. The one sack of Brock was 100% on the the RT. That unit needs the most help.
    - Savage didn't look as good as it did the first time I watched it. He couldn't move the ball until the 2nd half and that was against the 49ers 3rd stringers. It is obvious he is more comfortable with the 2nd string receivers because that is who he practices with the most.
-YAC was pretty much non-existent. I don't know if it is placement of the ball, timing of the throws, or receivers not creating enough space.

I don't know if the box score backs any of these up but this is what I observed.

Brock will be decent, at worse. Main concern now is injuries with OL and Watt.

    Has Filo shown improvement?

I've read that he has, but it's hard to tell if it's camp fluff or not.

man, it's so disheartening that the cowboys have dak and he's killing..

if it was any other team, cool, but it's houston luck that dallas potentially found an amazing qb, while we've been stuck in mediocrity since our inception...

New quarterback new system - it is going to take a couple months before he can push the offense hard. He talks a big game but I will wait - Savage has been in the system for 2 years so he is making better decisions on passes. That throw to Nuc last game was fine but he had a wide open slot receiver on the left. Patience required and I think he will be good. If he gets hurt Savage is playing well so I think we have a solid backup.

After BoB proved he could win with him I never understood why they let Fitz go for what seemed to be a lesser fellow journeyman and a complete unknown. Why not stop gap Fitz another year at that point?

It's disheartening mostly because I wanted him here

Yep. Fitz was the perfect holdover to the future for this team. I said it all through last season when the Texans were shuffling between bad and worse. He may not be the most talented but that guy sure makes you want to play hard for him.

Dak has been good but it is preseason.

Wait for him to play a "real" game before people crown him an AMAZING QB.

One thing he does well is throw the ball with confidence.

Until a regular season defense plays him for 60 minutes then we can talk.

I wish fans were as positive about the Texans as they were about other players on other teams who haven't showed anything. Be patient.
