Anyone getting this? Seems like they're going for the Amex platinum crowd.

Are you talking about the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card? I don't believe it's officially out yet.

What are the benefits? Just cash back?

Most people want a more versatile card, like Venture from Capital One or MileagePlus Explorer from Chase. Those give you airline miles and/or cash back.

The Sapphire cards work the same way.

Is this the card for Sapphire in Las Vegas? Kind of like a Macy's card, but for the strip club?

I have one because there is a promotion for $500 if you spend 4k within 3 months.

I think you meant the Reserve card.

    It's not out yet.

Is this the card made of out metal steel? If so, I'm not interested since it is heavy and will adversely effect my vertical.

Looks like a better Chase Sapphire Preferred if you travel often.

I'm still figuring out if it's worth the extra money over the Sapphire Preferred.

I paid my first annual fee for the Sapphire preferred just two weeks back though, so I won't be thinking about canceling and switching until just under a year.

Skimming the deal: ($98 for Sapphire Preferred) vs ($450-$300 travel credit) seems about worth it considering the higher points return rate and the travel perks. $4000 within 3 months is quite a lot though. Let's see

Totally depends on who you travel with. I live in a Delta hub and Delta isn't a Sapphire partner but Delta has a partnership with Amex. So in my case, the Amex Platinum will almost always be a better option.

For most people in Houston, this will probably be the better option as United (and by extension Star Alliance) is a Chase partner. The rumor is that there will be a 100k point bonus on launch for the Sapphire Reserve. The Amex Platinum also gets a 100k bonus every now and then as well. They're both equal options, just make sure your preferred airlines are associated with the right card.

Definitely not for me with that whopping $450 annual fee. I'll stick with my Sapphire Preferred card.

I think it makes sense for people who have considered getting the Amex platinum.

I'm a Chase Ultimate Rewards fan because they transfer to SW. I thought United would be an awesome transfer partner but I hate their fees.

You also get a 300 travel credit so 450-300= 150. The preferred (which I have also) is 95 so If you travel a lot 150-95 = 55 extra a year for 3X points. Sign me up

Hmm. When you put it that way, maybe it's not so bad.

The only thing I'd consider is if the $300 credit stretches as much as other rewards/deals. Even if not, it'd probably still pay for itself. It's something I'd have to run the numbers to see if it's worth it.
