Cant believe I spent 4,000 bucks on a 10 min highlight film.
Something I watched like a couple of times with serious interest.

It's worth less now that I am getting divorced. :-/

Whatever I'm told by the fiancée. Everything I've looked at for both photos/video is between 4-5k

We paid a little less than 5k for both. Photos were excellent (about $3500) and video was decent as I mentioned before - thing is, we've only watched our videos once, maybe twice. You can definitely get it down from 4-5k for each if you want to. This coming from someone who works in the video business.

I just got married six weeks ago. We were both pretty flabbergasted by the prices of some of the wedding photographers. We ended up going with a company called AD&CD Photography. Tommie was pretty good though we would have preferred she be a little more assertive during the formal shots after the ceremony. But she came up with some really creative shots at the reception and overall we were pretty happy (though it seems to be taking forever to get the final results...but I'm told that is pretty normal).

They charged us about $1000 for 4 hours and two photographers (though one of those was the company owner and it seemed to me she got in the way more than she actually contributed).

Very very happy we didn't spend more than that.

This is good to know. I think I'm just gonna ask the guests to film with their phones during the thing and send me copies. I'll splice it all together and make a mini movie

Guess the cat's out of the bag. Guys, we're having a fatal three way cage marriage.

Weddings are nothing but a waste of money.
It's like you should lose your right to ever complain about anything being overpriced if you spend money on a wedding reception.

The problems with these threads is you have too many people projecting their own experiences onto the OP. Some of the group says, "Spend money! It's worth it!" Some others say, "Don't spend anything more than the bare minimum! Trust me!" Then you have some others saying, "Wedding?? Pfft, more like Endless Vortex of Sh!ttiness! Amirite?!?"

It just comes down to what you and your SO want to do. Nobody else matters in the decision-making. It's your day.

He's doing videography for my wedding next week. I watched one of his highlight videos at his office and it blew me away. Looking forward to seeing his work.

I'm trying to find a happy median. We are paying for our own wedding so don't want to go too crazy, but also don't want to regret going to cheap on the photographer.

    ... It's tough.
