Really glad that our bats are finally waking up. We will definitely need the offense to stay hot to get through very tough stretch of games. 9 out of next 11 games on the road against tough opponents. 2 games @TOR (65-50) 2 games STL (60-56) 4 games @BAL (64-50) 3 games @PIT (57-55) Next 6 games against sub .500 teams at home. Then beginning of September will be just as tough if not tougher. 13 out of 16 games on the road against very tough opponents. 3 games @TEX (68-48) 4 games @ CLE (64-48) 3 games CHI Cubs (73-41) 3 games @TEX (68-48) 3 games @SEA (60-53) I would say we are in the toughest stretch of games in our season. We can definitely beat these teams if our offense stays hot like this and youngsters like Bregman and Hernandez continues to contribute.
Great game!! Musgrove looks like a vet with his command and array of pitches. He did excellent today considering TOR just saw him last week. Guy is a very good #3, minimum. Hernandez was probably the first callup since Correa to get a hit in his first game... Astros were 0-10 since Carlos. The Big-3 is performing, and young guys are doing well mostly. Can't wait to see Gurriel. Stros might have another MAJOR '16 surge!!!
Anyone who wasn't perturbed when Harris entered (and even more bothered after the solo) hasn't been paying attention. The closer role is an issue.
Concerned and then relieved. Not bothered. Your closer is out on paternity leave. Gregerson was just coming off the DL. Harris, who lost the job, gave up one run. The Astros won. I'm happy.
We're all happy.... now. Closer role is an issue including Giles, btw. And what's the difference between bothered, perturbed, and concerned? I didn't say enraged or sickened.
Semantics. Perturbed (to me) implies anxious to the point of being upset. I wasn't to that level because even when Harris was blowing saves he was giving up one or two runs. The chances of him giving up three were very slim.
BTW congrats to our new rookie going 2-4 and his first HR. He's gotta shave cream Bregmans locker. Also, they said we have 10 rookies now on the team, the team fighting for a playoff series? Lunhow, thank you. I thought it would take a decade to fix that farm system.
That must be it. I forgot about him. 5 of the 10 rookies are pitchers. Not sure if to look at as a good thing or not.
I think I saw someone mention it on this site, but I would love to throw 12-14M a year at Encarnacion to try and get him here. He's about to enter FA and I've always liked his game. 3/38M might do the trick.
With all the complaining about Hinch's decision to use Harris... not a single one was made regarding Neshek in the 8th (and that includes him facing a pretty good lefty). Neshek has been a true under-the-radar stellar bullpen guy this year.
