I'm not sure I like the survival aspects of the game in theory, but I guess I won't know till I try it.

    Apparently,
the goal of the game is to reach the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy
. I'm in no hurry to get it [need a PS4] but so far the reviews seem really positive -- except for the grinding at the beginning.

My copy is due from Amazon on Thursday. I rarely buy games for the PS4 except for sports titles. This just seems too cool to pass up.

That's not really a spoiler. No need to spoilertag!
The devs have made it blatantly obvious what the main objective is.

There are a little over 18 Quintilian planets spread out over multiple galaxies. You traverse through galaxies by reaching the center of the current galaxy you start in.

Also btw the game is coming out on PC on Friday.

It is NOT a PS4 exclusive.

I highly recommend getting it on PC. PS4 version is limited to 30fps with apparent frame drops to as low as 15fps at some points.

Here is a website that has a lot of information about the game:

I've enjoyed it so far. But I like exploration games. So far I've just been discovering species and trading resources for a bigger ship. And, of course, avoiding and fending off space pirates who seem to warp in almost every time I transport a full inventory of goods.

It feels monotonous. Gathering resources and identifying the animals.

I wish they would start getting some reviews out from the high profile review sites like IGN. Generally I trust their judgement when it comes to games, and if it is in the 8.5 range I will most likely buy it. Hurry up IGN!

This is probably the only game in history that you could play 100+ hours of, and still not come up with a "correct" numerical score.

I think it actually comes down to player perspective. Do you like exploration / no stress / no real end goal / playing by yourself? If you do, NMS is probably going to float your boat.

I don't even think getting to the black hole thing at the center of the universe is what I hope to accomplish; like, finding more planets to explore is probably more fun than the usual "I beat this game!!" feeling.

You can name planets, animals, and fauna.

So planet Jontro V home of the floral Fapilius Jontranus short name Fapflowers and the majestic large bodied Fapasaurus Rex short name Fapraptor is possible!

I've watched a few people stream the game, it looks like it could be fun for certain types of gamers, but others will get bored pretty quickly. I'm not sure I'd put enough time into the game to make it fun.

I don't get the appeal of open sand box games. The worst part of games like Skyrim is spending an hour walking between quests.
