Melo. Despite what someone said earlier (can't remember who, too tired to look either), Nene will NOT be the offensive focus, I promise. Not enough of a complete game yet.

Milicic, well, I do'nt think he' sgonna be as good as many think. Just MHO, but I think he's gonna be overrated.

I know everyone is riding real high on the Melo and Lebron thing, but I'm not really excited about this group of rookies. Perhaps it's because the Rockets don't really have a real rookie this year, but still. Despite the hype with James, I'm not all that excited to see him.

I do think that Lebron is going to get the award, no problem. I think he won't meet the expectations that everyone has for him. (Especially in the scoring department) But he's the man in Cleveland, so he'll have all the opportunity.

How can anyone from an opinion on him at all? The most you can do is assume the Pistons management aren't complete r****ds and he at least has some talent. At his size and skill description, he sounds exactly like a Pau Gasol to me. But given that he will be playing on Detroit, not Memphis, I don't see him winning. Don't see why he won't be decent though.

After the first day of training camp, Milicic was already complaining about the physicality of the NBA and how much of a step up it was. There's also some disagreement about what position he should play and how he should play it. That's probably what he was talking about.

I think Yao should be reconsidered for this year's award since he got jipped last year hehe. well, he shoulda at LEAST been co-rookie of the year with Amare.

Well apart from that, it's obvious that Lebron has got the green light. He'll be playin the minutes and so will Carmelo. Darko, he'll get limited minutes while learning as Brown said he's still got a lot to learn and makin' lots of mistakes

Bingo. Dude's gonna be like Skita. Could be really good in two or three years, but he's not ready now. IMO, it's one thing for an 18-year old to come in the league and play a guard or swingman position because they're not as physical as the down low battles. That's what made Amare impressive last season.

BTW, before I get attacked for my last comment, I think Yao was ROBBED of ROY and Stoudemire was overrated the entire season, should have finished 4th in ROY voting. I probably just pissed off a lot of Suns fans, but oh well, they already hate me, and they know I'm right. :p

    Amare wasn't 18, he was 20.

Milicic won't get the minutes or touches to be rookie of the year, but he would have been the second pick no matter who drafted. It isn't like he was just the guy Detroit picked. Denver would have taken him over Carmello, Utah said they would have taken him over LeBron, etc.

The NBA "Rookie of the Year" is a sham! How are you going to give the ROY to Amare when Yao Ming had better numbers. Alongside better numbers, Yao also had a bigger impact on the league; for his position as clearly the second best center in the league, from a revenue standpoint, and from a stance of the globalization of the game. Even if the last part is irrelevant and you are going on numbers alone, how could you at least not split the ROY. (Although i'm not in agreement with spliting) They split the vote with Brand and Francis despite Brand have overall better numbers. It's just a joke. PERIOD!!

I think that ROY is not always fair because the voters are so heavily influenced by the current trend of the season. Basically, whichever rookie finishes as the hottest gossip of the season will get the award, regardless of how good they are or what kind of numbers they put up for the season. In terms of numbers, Yao was ROY last year and Elton Brand was it during Steve's year. But both of them were the talk of the town by the end of the year and I think this swayed the voters. And you could also say that it's not who was the best rookie statistically, just the most impressive rookie.

In a related topic, T.J. Ford got 15 pts, 5 reb, 7 ast in 28 min of play for the Bucks. Go T.J.!!! Hook em horns!

...Damn no edit... when I was referring to "them" as being the talk of the town, I meant Amare and Stevie getting their unfair share of ROY voters

my main question regarding amare is how the hell did he graduate when he was 19!! he had to been held back at least a year or two i mean the guy must have been held back at least two years. imagine that guy probably was driving around in 8th grade or something. the whole roy from hs is lost with him considering he was as old or older than most 1st/2nd years in college. hell i am only 2 months older than him and was starting my 3rd year when he was a rookie. he is young but not your avg hs to pro kid age wise

Stoudamire won the ROY last year over Yao

So if Malik Badiane can get the Rockets into the playoffs, then he should be ROY.
(even if he's not playing for houston)
