    Forgot where I heard it, but there's a theory that monkeys evolved some way of getting that feeling from having birds (hawks, eagles, don't remember) swooping down and taking them out.

    The anthropologist who had the theory got the ingenious idea too look in the skulls of his museum samples that originally came from bone piles and lo and behold there were beaklike scratches on the skull's inside back.
