Seriously Yi should come back to the NBA he'd be an average bench player. And he's bigger than any other Chinese player

Corey Brewer could score 60 points on this China team.

LOL no. Dude is like 3 for 15. He's looked terrible besides making two 3's in a row early.

What was Yi Jianlian's reason for not making it in the NBA? I faintly remember seeing his training regime and scrimmage clips. He looked to have all the tools to be a serviceable big man who can spread the floor and shake his defender inside.

Was it a confidence thing? He seemed to smile a lot. Was it a consistency thing? Was it his high draft pick that killed him due to high expectations? Bad coach, bad system?

He seemed much better than Zhou.

A blend of not rebounding much, playing soft low post basketball, injury issues, perhaps agents not wanting him to play off the bench.

He could have ended up being an end of the bench or bench guy.

But as a national hero second only to Yao Ming, it was better for him to play starter minutes in Guangdong.

    ;)

The J was one of his least problems, his agents made promises he was the second coming of a certain Yao and with Asian Nowitzki skillset which actually ruined it for him.

He could stil play in the NBA today as a role player.

I doubt he wants that being the national hero and given 40 minutes per game with Guangdong.

Below average defense and rebounding, and not good enough option to command a lot of touches on offense. His offense game was relegated to pick and pop's and an occasional pump fake and attack of the basket. He ended up going back to China because he wanted more playing time and the glory of being a headline player rather than a bench role. He was also injured a lot and could never really find a groove.

Even at his best, he was a passable off the bench big despite having the physical tools to be something more.

Dude you need to come back from retirement to save team China.

Maybe bring Yao and Sun Yue with you.
