Outside of Anderson I think everyone else will perform a lot better defensively than most seem to think.

I understand the I believe when I see it attitude with what they showed last year.

At the same time, the Rockets were a top 5 D two years ago holding teams under 100 for multiple game at a time starting cannan/harden/Ariza/dmo/black with guys like Dorsey papa and terry getting major minutes. Defense is a team thing and If the chemistry is there this team can be in the top 12.

I think the team is really going to surprise a lot of people with how good they are on both ends and how many games they Win. I will not be shocked if they are fighting with the Spurs and clips for the 2-4 seed, In fact I expect it.

I would be looking for a plan B and C too after the team trying to trade him last season. Plus maybe he's looking for bigger money elsewhere if he can fool them about his health. Players that we hardly ever hear about are getting 10-15mil.

He is necessarily back whether he likes it or not if the Rockets say so. Just a fact DMO. Just a fact.

Unless the rox already told him a number they are willing to go up to and he's trying to get them to budge

My gut says it's around # of years 2vs3

The problem with DMo is that we've essentially got half a season (2014-2015) of him showing good potential followed by the worst type of injury a big man can have.

People are underplaying the significance of that cancelled trade. It's not what "killed his market value", as if GMs will have some emotional reaction to it. Detroit doesn't cancel that trade unless they think there's a real issue.

I could be wrong, but I don't think a big offer is coming.

Unless some of those teams are international, DMO has no choice in the matter. The rockets will match what ever another team offers.

Its sad when you have to resort to using the Bermanator as your mouth piece.

Great, so it's come down to this.
DMo says there are only 2 (a couple) teams with 'a lot of interest'. If his agent is still talking with the Rockets, that's 1 and leaves 1 other?

So basically what will this other team offer? And he's not sure if the Rockets will match it.

This makes a lot of sense. Last year DMo was worth a 1st if healthy. And he would have had big offers in free agency this year if healthy. The back is a real issue.

Giving up a first rounder potential lottery pick (at the time of trade) plus playing DMO in free agency is different than just paying DMo in free agency.

By what measure? Not DRtg, opp FG%, or opp ppg. We are also going to be down 4 of the top 5 DBPM guys from that squad (Smith, Dorsey, Jones, and Howard) and hired as head coach perhaps the worst defensive head coach of the last 30 years. It is probably okay though because we have replaced them with defensive stalwarts like Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon (both of whom have negative DBPMs every year except Ryno managed a 0.2 in 2010-11). This team has basically zero chance to be a top 12 defense, and it will be shocking to me if they are not bottom 10.

On the bright side, we're getting rid of 2 of the worst defenders in the NBA (Jones, Terry)

You are on crack cocaine if you think we enhanced our defense with Dantoni as coach and the signings of Anderson and 40 year okd Priglioni. Should be fun seeing him try to guard guys like Westbrook :(

Not me. If I have been traded by one team, refused by another, have a history of back problems, and haven't gone much beyond the potential stage after four years, and somebody offered me $10,000,000.00, I'd take it in a heart beat - even if I had to work for that over two or three years.

What he knows is that if the teams think his back is messed up... he doesn't get paid. So why on earth would he ever say that is back isn't 110% in great shape?? The only way we will know for sure if his back is a huge issue is if he doesn't get paid. If he gets paid than we know that the doctors have given their sign off that he's healthy.

Not sure why the D-Mo hollics need to live in la la land where they want to live outside of the reality of his injury and potential seriousness longterm of it. IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU AREN'T A DMO FAN IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS BACK. You guys don't have to prove anything by lying about that to yourselves and others here.

I love D-Mo and hope he's healthy, and hope he gets paid (by the Rockets). But I don't live in LaLa land where I keep myself completely oblivious of reality.

Going into January they had the 2nd best defense per possession.

That's the stretch i was referring to.
